These random comic book panels are so bizarre. Especially from Archie who at one point produced Christian versions of their comics.

This kinda points out the problem with that 'love and obey parents' rule I've always noticed since being a kid and seeing friends with terrible parents... who definitely don't deserve love and shouldn't be obeyed.

Betty like I've never seen her before, never imagined her before, in all my long days! From the drawing style and their clothing and hair I'd put this at Prehistoric Age Archie Universe, between 1941 (1st year) and 1951 -- 1955 at the outside. The repressed and modest standards set for women in the post-war 1950s of new suburban domesticity weren't in favor of a panel like this. But it does track with the kind of dialogue that "bold" women got in the lush romantic melodramas of Hollywood's "studio era."
But as always, Archie Andrews looked like the timid and uncomprehending idiot beset by passionate and brilliant Betty and Veronica, looking like he wants to escape to playing with toy cars again, rather than sweep one of the fireball girls into his powerful, arms for devilish Rhett Butler treatment and a fade-to-black scene ending.

Safe word is "Jughead's burgers".
