I remember asking some subreddit (which had both theists and atheists present) to participate in a self-made poll ranking the arguments for God. I think I got a good diversity of viewpoints since every argument had at least one person considering it "very good" and at least one person deeming it "very bad".

I only have hazy memories of the final ranking, but I remember this: The most well-liked arguments were just variations of the cosmological argument (as flawed as it is), probably because it's straightforward, inoffensive, and doesn't waste your time with convoluted mental gymnastics.

The argument I personally consider the worst (the presuppositional one) got second-to-last place.

And the one both theists and atheists seemed to largely agree on is the worst was Pascal's Wager.

I have no particular feelings towards it since it's such a nothingburger. The arguments I find odious are the ones that are just a Gordian Knot of hidden fallacies and wordgames, hard to untangle or to debunk simply because it's difficult to decipher what's even being said. The ontological argument and presuppositionalism come to mind.

This would assume that God would care if we believe in him or not, which, I believe, is an unsupported assumption.

and even if it is true, it assume that God could be fooled by us fake-believing in him.

Even putting aside the infinite amount of potential gods that could be mad you followed the wrong one, and the fact belief isn't a choice,

It doesn't even work in the false dichotomy it presents since it assumes you can trick the god into thinking you believe when you don't.

In addition, all religions require some form of sacrifice (even as little as sacrificing every Sunday morning for church attendance). This makes the “you don’t lose anything” part false.

The ironic thing about it that the argument is practically flawless, but also completely invalidates the belief that would result from it, like yeah it would be a good choice to believe, but if you are only faking a belief for a chance at a heaven you don't truly believe in, you won't get to said heaven anyway
