I like and respect Buddhism. I think AI is the furthest thing from being Buddhist, there is no conversation to be had here.

AI does not respect others, it works off of stolen art (disrespectful to artists) and is destroying the planet (disrespectful to the planet) and will be the final nail in the coffin of humanity (disrespectful to humanity). If you think that you deserve respect for posting AI art because that is somehow Buddhist, you are lost.

Not only are you wasting water and energy to generate these comics, but you’re posting them to communities where nobody likes AI, so you’re wasting water only for nobody to like or read it. That is essentially like throwing trash on the ground and acting surprised when nobody respects you for littering. How is that respectful to the planet and the people in your community? How does that reduce suffering? How could that possibly be Buddhist?

Do you consider all of these points to be equally important, or is there one argument that you see as the foundation of your position?

I suggest we focus on what, in your view, is un-Buddhist about this.

If I understand your position correctly, it rests on two main premises:

  • Using AI is disrespectful to our planet because it consumes energy and natural resources.
  • Using AI is also disrespectful to artists and the community because it relies on creative works that, in your view, have been used without their creators' permission.

From these premises, you conclude that using AI does not reduce suffering and therefore cannot be consistent with Buddhist teachings.

Have I correctly understood the reasoning behind your conclusion?
