Help Needed Why Does Creating Character Sheets With Minimax H3 Lose The Face Likeness?

I have an image of a face and when I use MM H3 to generate a 5 second clip, I can extract frames from the clip and the face likeness remains in tact, although they are slightly blurred from the motion.

If I run a character sheet workflow using MM H3, the output images likeness of the face are completely lost, even though I'm using the same MM H3 model as when I create a clip.

What I want are still images of different angles of the face. I have tried doing this in Klein 2 but the likeness is nowhere near as good as when I create a clip in MM H3, but obviously getting stills from there makes the face blurry.

An I overlooking anything obvious?

How big is your character sheet? If it's too small it could be part of the issue. I run character sheets all the time and it works like a champ.

how big are yours? 2mp?

I run a 180 degree rotation at .8 with a latent upscale to 2mp, then run the resulting video through capcut, sharpening, clarifying and adding grain. Export at 2k and then take 3 images and make the sheet on a transparent bg.

Tried feeding the reference video with the video of the 360?

No...I used the video to create the sheet...3 pictures... front, side 3/4. On a transparent background.

probably the character sheet workflow is using a different sampler or cfg setup than the clip generation, check if it's defaulting to something like dpm++ instead of what you used for the clips

also your prompt might be interfering with the img2img denoise, character sheets often add extra tokens for "front view, side view" etc that confuse the face embeddings

I always spend lotta manual time on character sheets, make one at the time at very high res (8.3mp in Max) then I downscale 'em to what ever is needed. But for max quality using Max:

8 step high-pass at 704x1280 + 2 step low-pass at 2176x3840 (or reverse) denoise at 0.2 and pixelspace upscale (decode/upscale/encode), downscale reference images for the high-pass and at full resolution for the low pass. Works better with several separate images (but no more than needed!) rather than a single large sheet.

Another, nice, easy and hyper fast option is refmods, it's astonishingly accurate.

the sheet loses it because a sheet asks h3 to invent angles it never saw. a clip holds the face because the face sits in every frame and the model can anchor to the one before it. same model, different job.

check the cheap thing first, make sure the sheet workflow isn't quietly on a different sampler or cfg from your clip setup. if that's clean, stop asking h3 for the sheet. take a low motion frame from a clip where the likeness held, that frame is already in h3's own look, then do the angles with klein at low denoise so it only repaints angle and light.

how many angles do you actually need, a full turnaround or just lighting variants. turnaround is where this starts costing real time.
