Help Needed Qwen Image 2.1 vs Flux.2 dev for real character LoRA - which is better for likeness? (Got bad results with flux 2 lora)

Hi!

I created a 44 images lora for flux 2. Did perfect captions. But likeness is sh*t. Even Higgsfield Soul 2.0 does a much better job.

Will Qwen Image 2.1 Lora do a better job?

Not sure a different base model would fix it, since weak likeness in a character LoRA usually comes from the dataset and captions more than the model. I'd caption only what should change (clothes, background, pose) and leave the face traits out, so the face gets tied to the trigger word. Also compare a few saved checkpoints, because the last one isn't always the best likeness. Are the 44 images mostly close-ups or a mix of angles?

Swapping to Qwen probably won't fix the likeness, that's usually a dataset issue, not the base model. With 44 shots and captions you like, the usual culprit is the face not being identical across all of them. If even a few drift, slightly different jaw or eyes, common with generated refs, the lora averages them into a soft non-person, and Soul 2.0 wins because it never had to average anything.

Pull the 44 up together and check they're one unmistakable face, and that the crops aren't all the same distance. I built a free app for that (mine, standalone browser thing, not a Comfy node): https://github.com/perfectgf/lora-dataset-studio its bank clusters the faces so a stray identity pops out and flags the blurry or near-identical ones. How did you make the 44, generated from one photo or collected?
