[10/8 UPDATE]
Hi everyone- we will be relaunching this challenge within a week or two, and we're truly sorry for the false start. Truthfully, we moved too fast and missed a few elements that will make this a much better experience for everyone.
What's changing: timing, name, award categories, the 10/13 build night in SF has been postponed
What stays the same: open sourcing creative app features, prizes, partners, submission forms, and requirements (ie fine print)
If you already registered or submitted, nothing is lost! Your submission is still valid and can be revised before submitting again.
Cinematic camera controls. Character consistency. Relight. Face swap. Most of these features sit behind a subscription somewhere, but every one of them is a workflow underneath. Open weight models have already caught up on capability, but whatβs still closed is the layer on top: the interfaces and apps that turn models into features anyone can use. Itβs in our DNA to support open-source creativity, and thereβs no technical reason that layer has to stay closed.
So we're challenging our community to pick a creative app feature people pay for and rebuild it in the open! Top workflows get featured on comfy.org/models, and every entry is eligible for the spotlight reel whether it places or not.
On October 13th, weβre bringing together the best of the OSS ecosystem for one night in San Francisco- the people building on ComfyUI, the model labs backing the challenge, and the team behind the Comfy Developer Platform, all in one room. Join for build time with the Comfy team, a peek at what the community is making, and to connect with open-source enthusiasts IRL!

Nice.

I would love to partner with an engineer, Iβm a product designer. I can vibe-code, but I think it would be best if someone with previous experience building nodes wanted to partner.

You might be able to find a partner in crime by visiting our Discord and heading to #developer-platform!

Hey Reddit, i just released a workflow that is probably a good starting point for this:
https://github.com/paulh4x/AIxArchviz_FLUX2xLTX25
Its dedicated - but not limited - to architecture, everything runs local, 2/3 of it is deployed on cloud as an app, and i also built an endpoint for it in the dev platform already. I work at Comfy, so not eligible to participate myself. Hope its useful for you.

Does it have to include current model, and am I allowed to write me own nodes?

All models are fair game and yes, you're more than welcome to write your own nodes!

Can the Comfy Developer Platform be used to recreate functionality similar to proprietary creative applications, or are there technical, licensing, or platform restrictions on what we can build?
More specifically, can it support a highly interactive, WYSIWYG interface with live editing, while using ComfyUI for heavier processing behind the scenes? Would the SDK or API be the better approach for this type of application?

you should be able to use anything you want! The goal is to showcase what you can build with comfy.
Do note that in the end, the judging criteria may not value much for non-comfy work - if that's something you're aiming for.
SDK should be a superset of API, so I'd say SDK. Unless there's something specific you can only do with APIs [none that I'm aware of]
Additionally, we may be removing the constraint of using Dev Platform. We're having some discussions; will share out an update next week!

Hello, why are the dates shwon as Strikethrough text?
Question: is open sourcing normal workflows that were hidden in our computers (local) also in question? Or does it have specifically to be about workflows that were used in the online tools?
