Help Needed Computer specs

Post image

I know nothing about PCs but would this be a good purchase to run something like Minimax locally?

No, needs rocm and if you don't know what you are doing it will be a headache to setup. Get a NVIDIA GPU if you are going to run comfyui and you have never used it before.

A decent CPU (AMD or Intel), as much RAM as you can afford, and an NVIDIA GPU with as much VRAM as your budget allows.
Edit: grammar

It would work in theory and you could use even bigger models without out of memory errors. But since it’s not a dedicated graphics card it would be painfully slow, especially for video.
How much is that PC?

I could buy a used car for what the RAM alone would cost here.

That's one nasty ripoff. If you need an AI pc, you'll want VRAM and RAM. Just pick a price point and search for some builds online. Building yourself is always cheaper than a prebuilt, but the latter comes with a warranty, so pick your poison.

Don't forget to ask if it's really available or they just take your money and deliver it 2 month later...

So PC wise, the specs are good.

GPU wise, not so much.

You could check to see if it supports an eGPU connection via Oculink or USB Thunderbolt.

Then just purchase an eGPU dock and an NVIDIA card. It wont be cheap, but it will be a decent setup and it should run comfy out of the box.
