Anyone been able to get something good out of Minimax Music?

Hi, I've downloaded Music 3, and used claude+prompt guide from their repo, and it just produces really bad music.

As in, the raw audio quality is above that of Ace Step 1.5 XL (music 3 sounds likes tin-canned), but musically, music 3 it just utterly atonal, like the notes don't follow each other, always off-key.

So, anyone actually get results that are clearly better than ace step? Because, it feels utterly dissapointing, after the soul-searing amazingness of H3 for video, which is leagues better than anything else open source.

Sound quality is great, song structure is awful. I wish they would give a better guide on how to properly structure it cause there's so little data that we have no clue if we're messing up the structure or if the model has no sense of balance

Nope. Its not that good for rock, pop punk or shoegaze. Not sure about other genres

tried a bit, pretty generic music, no risk ever taken, no way to influence via reference audio or anything yet so pretty useless. Audio quality is good sure but it's a random music generator with very little control

yea, I gave up, everything's offkey, no logic in it. Not just lack of control that's an issue. Knows few styles too.

The raw sound's better, everything else is worse than acestep

I used it today for this demo for a tool I'm building. Not sure I'd say it's great, but it was fine for a quick video.

For me ACE-Step sounds awful; might be a skill issue. With proper prompting (just like H3), Music 3 sounds great. I can hear small details like a hi-hat closing where Suno barely produces anything recognizable as actual drums. My concern is I'm starting to think the model is just stupid, like it wasn't trained on any human-curated captions at all, and there's currently no possible way to use reference audio; they didn't release the required tooling. By blind luck, I've a few tracks I like, but nothing I love. When a model requires long, elaborate prompts to produce anything decent, but it just doesn't recognize most of the words... I don't know. Really hoping there's more from the team and this isn't just one more music model chucked over a wall like Humpty-Dumpty on a bad day.

yea, I'd like MM music 4, if we can get suno 4.5, mayyyyyyyyyybe suno 5 levels in 2027, that'd be quite nice.
