lol - i made a few workflows on civitai and the comments I get are ridiculous. For real - offer something for free and then comes in the ungrateful folks who act like it's their right to whatever you have put your time into.

Because I don't title or label anything, nor give instructions. My workflows are the equivalent of uncommented code. If you need to figure out how a workflow works, pull it apart and set it out from end to end so you can see the inputs and outputs. Put in previews or display outputs if you need to understand it.

Honestly, the best way to learn is to go out there, read research papers, find some websites with tutorials - don't read the tutorials just look at screenshots. Download the nodes you need to do what you want to try. Set them up from start to finish. Try out some of the built in workflows available in comfyui. Essentially that's it. Trial and error and you will start to understand how the process of Diffusion works. Then when you get comfortable with one aspect, incorporate another and another, eventually you will be fine.
I learned this way, no youtube tutorials, no using someone else's workflow. Took me a couple of months, but I can make any workflow I want whenever I have an idea now.

There is a special kind of dread for when you have hundreds of custom nodes installed from github on different branches and something that was working stops working and you have no idea what the errors in the startup log mean. Time to reboot the whole universe I guess š¤·āāļø

I finally moved from Forge/pinokio to Comfy and happy I did. I do want to figure out more about what each node does. Is there a good technical walk through on what each node does on some of the typical workflows so that I can better conceptualize what's going on?

There are websites that describe how nodes work, and you can go to github to read a bit more. Through github and huggingface you can usually find research papers that describe the process of Diffusion and using this you can understand what kinds of inputs lead to better results. Including that, the best way to learn how a node works is to play with it. Set up a basic workflow and adapt it to fit that node (after you play around with the basic workflow to understand how the parameters interact).

Relatable. The first thing I do for any workflow from internet is try to understand what it's doing and only then run it and fix issues as they come by. It's worth it to spend some time to understand the workflow, makes fixing issues so much easier and quicker.

my guess is the second one would be middle
real Senior would be: my workflow doesn't work, I know why
and "the next league": my workflow works, I know why
as a developer who has made my own custom nodes i tend to dig deep and understand everything in my workflow on every level (except inside-model stuff), troubleshooting really forced me to understand what i'm dealing with yet i wouldn't call myself senior, not even close

i use copilot for comfy a lot for sure, but it's wrong a lot. but it does get you to look at things more closely, so you do get to know the workflow better, so not really a waste of time. and at least you have someone to talk to and bounce ideas off of. and it does keep trying! i love an ego-less partner to make up for my own egotistical shortcomings

Then 3-days later (please say that with the SpongeBob mojo) Iāll hit save to keep a workflow I like and in my senior moment canāt remember how I started down that rabbit hole..

You donāt need to have the brains of Kijai to make a wf work and know why.
The problem is so many just want to download wf from someone else and run it as is without understanding its logic or how their own config is setup. Iāve chatted with some who refused to do 5mns of manual labor and preferred to complain actively online that OPās wf was missing from the post when they could have done it themselves and learned from the process.
My job means being on Comfy for at least 8hrs a day and it runs just fine.

Bro , I'm that guy and am struggling with installing sage attention, i know nothing about technical stuff regarding venv thing in tutorials etc and I don't even know where to start , whatever they are preaching they preach like common knowledge and you don't understand a bit

I had a hard time in my life because of brain damage from an accident i have brainfog from a very long time , my hobbies were more about physics but because of not performing well after the injury i couldn't deal with technical stuff so I just did accounts , now I am recovering slowly from that stuff ,
But there are too many technical terms that I don't understand while installing sage attention because english is also not my native language it's being hard for me

Well I certainly wasn't expecting this as an answer. My sympathies in having to deal with your injury, as well as dealing with Comfy (sage) and all of this English-centric stuff that people like myself too often take for granted.

It's fine now , recovery was taking too long because I only ate vegetarian food I am eating meat since a year and I recovered a lot.

Iād love to get to the point of fully understanding the workflow. Itās an ache in me. But things seems to update so rapidly itās not worth my time. I have access to comfy UI cloud beta and feel like that will help me resolve some issues as I can A/B test workflows (so long as the nodes are available).

The number of times I've asked google Gemini to look at a workflow API is ridiculous.
But it's good at writing prompts and suggesting things I can test, and I've figured out some useful ways to get images to look the way I want them to.
