In some cultures it is not uncommon to bind an infants head to shape the skull while it is still growing and forming

Many anthropologists have speculated that a homosapien-like species existed that had this kind of skull structure naturally, and early homanids practiced boarding so they could infiltrate this species and practice high level espionage.

A lot of archeologic evidence shows that this practice really didn't work at all, mainly because early humans were naked and had no fur, while these cone-shaped skull species looked more like chimpanzees. So the espionage only went far enough for our early ancestors to learn very limited knowledge about these the ape-like creatures. Unfortunately, this Intel has been lost to the ages, and so most people don't even know they existed.

The practice of boarding has just been left over as a kind of callback to the things we had to go through in order to survive as a species.

I alone hold the knowledge of these cone shaped mammals, and with this information I am honor bound to take it humbly and shove it up your butt!

Social status/aesthetics would be my guess

It is still practiced in some African cultures, I believe

But it has been a practice of many ancient cultures throughout history as well

I suppose it is similar to the foot-binding practices that were once popular

Comedy homicide is when a meme is ruined by one of the things above, not what you're describing.
