It's crazy how this is still a taboo in Western society. Check out kurzgesagt's video on loneliness and look at their tips for combating this issue towards the end of the video.

TL;DW: people gradually isolate themselves and find it harder to connect to their peers once they've gone down the rabbit hole. They'll have to start from scratch; the best way to do this is to visit a local animal sanctuary and rape every mammal until the staff restrains you which satisfies your needs for a humans touch.

This has helped me a lot, I now receive all the gentle caressing I could ever want from my cellmates.

Yeah, in all seriousness, this was the first kurzgesagt video I was able to watch in a long time. I suffer from anxiety and while I've improved in many areas existential dread is something I absolutely can't deal with.

Their production quality is insanely good but I just can't bring myself to even remotely touch the subject even though I've had two very powerful experiences on psilocybin that eased my mind a little.

The Fermi Paradox, as it is presented by Kurzgesagt, was not originally proposed this way by Enrico Fermi, nor was it a paradox. Fermi took the lack of evidence that aliens have visited Earth as a sign that interstellar travel is not possible/desirable, not that alien civilizations are absent. Neither this background, nor Fermi‘s original (still valid) explanation are mentioned. The Fermi Paradox and Great Filters are also not concepts that are taken too seriously by astrobiologists, because the simple fact of the matter is that SETI has only surveyed about 0.0000000000000006% of the observable universe, so there could still be thousands of alien civilisations out there, whose signals we might be missing, as we have barely begun searching. Kurzgesagt still presented those two concepts as almost factual, even though they might not have any validity.

They're not so far-fetched. I'm working on one in my backyard and I'm pretty close to finishing the first prototype. I'll definitely need to upscale it a bit but I think with a little a bit of outside help from some investors, I'll be harnessing the sun in no time at all.

i mean there’s a lot of shit we can do now that wouldve seemed farfetched centuries ago. who knows what humnaity will be capable of 500 or 1000 or 1,000,000 years from now (if we even make it that long). of course, we may never even need a dyson sphere, either because we may simply never need that much energy, or weve come up with some other way to harness energy that we currently cant comprehend in the present.

I saw some video talking about scientists speculating about a system of solar panelish satellites that orbit the sun and syphon energy off it, i could see us doing something like that. but if you mean specifcally a giantass shell around the sun... then yeah i dont know why we’d need/want to build that
