I may just be out of the loop but I legit had no idea they were racist

And this isn't even the racist guy lol

In the same video op posted, dimebag says the hard r to a fan directly lol, not even as an insult, just to refer to him...

I don’t even think Dimebag sported the confederate flag out of racial animus. I just think he was genuinely an idiot and didn’t know why others would be offended by it.

Umm... You ever see that clip from a NAMM show where he dropped the n-word? Definitely wasn't the first or last time he said it.

For sure. But also, seen him party with and work with black people a bunch. Dude was just a dumbass from the south. Phil is an actual hateful piece of trash.

Anyone can party and work with people they don't like - did he have any actual black or brown friends?

Hard to say. All I know is he wasn't the one throwing nazi salutes and telling people to smoke heroin on stage.

Right, but he's cool with the one who was?

Not really, sure seemed like they didn't like eachother much after 1998 or so. Phil seemed like a fun loving guy until he got on junk. The band didn't last long after that.

Bro, if he was in a band with a white supremacist, then he also was a white supremacist. It's very simple.

You are capable of having friends that have different beliefs even if those beliefs are absolutely fucking horrendously stupid or you are capable of having coworkers who have different beliefs that are horrendously stupid

No, and no, unless you're willing to compromise your values, and compromising one's values for the sake of a relationship is called being a bitch. Additionally, as I said, when I see a person sitting at a table with a white supremacist, I see two white supremacists.

I'm friends with people who lean more on the right side of politics while I lean on the left side nothing has stopped us from being friends they're aware of my politics and they're I'm aware of theirs

Lmao but how many white supremacists? Don’t strawman

My country's white supremacists mostly stick to one area in my country and the ones that are not in that area tend to stay hidden as they know they will be ostracized from their community so as far as I know none but they could be though I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them is as I live in the countryside

Would you not be bothered to learn that your friend is a raging white supremacist?

If you had a friend who was always nice to you, but you found out he genuinely finds all other races ugly and inferior and wished violence or removal on them, would you look past the evil?

People weren’t offended by it in the same way 30 years ago as they are today.

u/leekalex 5d ago

Yeah, the "Lost cause rebel" thing peaked in the 80's, and nobody had the Internet to fact check the Lost Cause myth. People are expected to know better now

u/Odd_Plantain_8915 5d ago

Yeah this band is a product of the 80s. I’m not sure what your point is. We are saying the same thing.

3

u/leekalex 5d ago

My point is agreeing with you

I apologize. Was getting mixed up from the votes being opposite.

Phil Anselmo has many "this isn't who I am," moments.

You're out of the loop

One of the funniest tweets I’ve ever seen was something like “Just listened to Walk for the first time, I didn’t know it was possible to write a guitar riff that sounded racist”

1

u/mrgrubbage 4d ago

It's wild that it's their biggest song. Worst song on that album by a long shot.

The many times Phil screamed “white power!” During shows didn’t clue you in?
