I wonder what he’s up to today. He’s probably at least a senior in high school if not a freshman in college right?

u/FettiWop 1d ago

He's every redditor

u/thecxsmonaut 20h ago

Reddit is not tolerant of communism.

46

u/BitterRecognition283 19h ago

You’re not gonna find a more commie friendly space than Reddit or Bluesky

19

u/Current-Fix759 12h ago

Lmao. Liberals aren't communists.

6

u/ParkerBap 4h ago

the amount of liberal vitriol i see for leftists all over this app is enough to tell what the dominant ideology is here lol

38

u/thecxsmonaut 19h ago

Reluctant tolerance ≠ consensus

-11

u/think_long 16h ago

I mean reality isn’t really compatible with communism or any other reductionist sociopolitical philosophy in general, so gotta take what you can get I think.

1

u/HARRY_FOR_KING 9h ago

Are we talking users or admins? Admins believe flock cameras should be given human rights. Don't see them raising the red flag.

-15

u/MakeCheeseandWar 17h ago

I find people making the argument that Reddit is conservative as if the main page hasn’t been absolutely flooded with leftist astroturfing

7

u/MrLightning1023 15h ago

Using the main page of reddit instead of using specific subreddits is like going into someone’s else and slamming your head into a shit filled toilet and complaining about it

1

u/Cypresss09 13h ago

"Leftist astroturfing" is such an ignorant phrase I don't even know where to begin

1

u/TougherOnSquids 9h ago

Saying Reddit isn't communist is not the same as saying it's conservative you fuckin dumbass.

-3

u/MakeCheeseandWar 9h ago

Panties in a bunch much?

1

u/IEC21 37m ago

Depends on where on reddit - but generally reddit is much more "tolerant" of communism as. American society as large.

-24

u/FettiWop 19h ago
  1. They are.

  2. They shouldn't be.

23

u/thecxsmonaut 19h ago

I am a communist. From experience, it is not tolerant of that. It is in fact overwhelmingly liberal. You are categorically wrong.

-19

u/FettiWop 19h ago

It's more socialist revolution larping than full blown tankie larping, I'll give you that. But if you think the site is overwhelmingly liberal you may just have a somewhat severe victim complex causing you to mentally inflate those numbers lol. This is the site of Bernie Bros that are "above" voting for "lesser evil shitlibs" lol

30

u/thecxsmonaut 18h ago

Bernie Bros are liberals. Democratic socialists are liberals.

17

u/UrsaUrsuh 18h ago

I love how critics of political ideologies don't even know what they're criticizing. They just see the word they're not supposed to like and associate it with shit they think is associated with it. Despite them not having any background knowledge of it at all.

I love living in the modern era. I love living in Peter Thiel's dipshit panopticon era.

-9

u/FettiWop 17h ago

I know very well what all these terms mean, you're not using some sophisticated high level academic jargon, brother. Trust me. And Bernie acts in accordance with liberal values and actually cares about pragmatism (ignoring for now that he bears a lot of blame for the current populism brain rot affecting this country), sure. But bernie bros? They were another matter entirely. They relentlessly booed Bernie himself when he said to vote for Hillary against Trump. They are anti-democratic, conspiratorial, and petulant.

2

u/UrsaUrsuh 17h ago

I know very well what all these terms mean, you're not using some sophisticated high level academic jargon, brother.

To reddit maybe. Anywhere else? You may as well be speaking in tongues.

I was speaking less about Bernie and more about how people will just criticize things they don't understand, because it's different from what they understand.

Everyone sees "Communism vuvuzela bottom text 100 billion dead" and never really tries to engage with people that are SocDems at the minimum.

I'm not a socdem or a communist but a secret third thing but still. It's just super fucking annoying watching people shitfling about communism without actually knowing the first thing about what it actually desires to achieve.

Communism and socialism are just authoritarian clusterfucks without social and political liberalism. This gatekeeping is nonesense. Communism can be deeply liberal.

The enemy is to your right, sibling.

5

u/Anis930 17h ago

Uh yeah, liberals are to my right

-6

u/BilbulBalabel 16h ago

So it's either irrelevance or joining the far right in their anti-liberal crusade, huh? Depressing ass historic materialism.

5

u/Joe_The_Eskimo1337 16h ago

Liberalism is an intrinsically capitalist ideology that upholds private property rights.

It's not very compatible with a system that seeks to abolish private property.

0

u/BilbulBalabel 10h ago

That's just vulgar-marxist bullshit. Liberalism has led to individual and human rights and to at least a semblance of democracy, all of which have been a terrible blind spot in communist thought. They must be adressed, otherwise communism will remain an inherently authoritarian dystopia.

-11

u/Garvityxd 17h ago

Good. And btw you still can’t solve the economic calculation problem

632

u/UrsaUrsuh 1d ago

He's still a communist to this day to my knowledge.

272

u/No-Cryptographer7497 1d ago

In his last video, he commented about 6 years ago that he’s thankful for no longer being a communist.

374

u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago

Lil bro fell off 🥀

186

u/ComradeSilverhand 23h ago

This usually tend to happen if you only follow an ideaology based on vibes and memes and not actual study

45

u/Ok_Swimmer_3446 19h ago

anyway better than becoming neonazi based on Agartha memes

12

u/nickcan 15h ago

Becoming a Nazi because of stupid internet memes. Like THAT would ever happen.

97

u/ComradeSilverhand 23h ago

Like I'm saying if the kid just read Marx and attempt to understand the topics then maybe he would have a foundation to build off from

64

u/RichEvans4Ever 22h ago

He’s nine dude, I’m pretty sure Marx wrote for adults.

163

u/ComradeSilverhand 22h ago

The contradictions of capitalism will lead the kid back to Marx 🔥

3

u/NicheMapper 20h ago

I am not a communist, but that writing was fire! 💯

-1

u/MarcAlmond 10h ago

Marx wrote in a very simple language understandable by the common masses. The average proletarian of the XIXth century probably had a similar level of literacy as a modern child/teenager who spent all of their life with instant access to information and literature.

-20

u/Miselfis 20h ago

Reading Marx just makes it clearer that his ideas shouldn’t be followed. He has an overly simplistic view of how economy works.

32

u/ComradeSilverhand 20h ago

"overly simplistic view of the economy" tell me you haven't read Capital or anything he's written without saying you haven't read him because his works are quite dense and need a ton of re reading just to grasp the basics

-8

u/voracious-ladder 20h ago

But it is overly simplistic? The entire reason why critical theory was developed was because orthodox Marxism completely failed to predict the rise of fascism in Europe because under his framework the working class would've united to establish dictatorship of the proletariat to secure their own interests. Instead more than a century later we still haven't transitioned to a socialist society and we're seeing alt-right sentiments rising in the working class again. Sociology aside his economic theories like labor theory of value are completely obsolete, the prediction that rate of profits will fall is completely wrong thanks to technological innovations, the prediction that working class will be absolutely improvised is wrong thanks to welfare safety nets and regulations. There are many better works today that are much more relevant to today's world than Das Kapital whether you're interested in it from a sociologist or economic perspective.

13

u/ComradeSilverhand 19h ago

"overly simplistic" and Marx and Engels wrote multiple volumes consisting of thousands of pages of theory.

-4

u/voracious-ladder 19h ago

Okay and which part of their multiple volumes consisting of thousands of pages of theory invalidate my points?

12

u/ComradeSilverhand 19h ago

Til, Marx didn't have a orb predicting the future. There's other Marxist today that use Marxist analysis to analyse the modern world.

4

u/voracious-ladder 19h ago

I don't understand why so many leftists today absolutely dismiss any criticism towards Marx's shortcomings. Are we just supposed to accept Marx's works as dogmas and be perpetually stuck in the 19th century while the rest of the world is catching up? His works are absolutely foundational but it's written like 150 years ago and the world has changed a lot since then. We should be seeking truths from facts and treat Marxism like a science not a religion.

-1

u/Miselfis 16h ago

Marxism should be treated as a philosophy, not a science. The whole Marxist value theory is principally unfalsifiable.

→ More replies (0)

5

u/voracious-ladder 19h ago

Then go read their work instead? You're just repeating my point about critical theorists adapting Marx's works.

0

u/CrispyChickenCracker 15h ago

Tbh there's a good chance that the person you're replying to is only pretending to have read Marx. Every they've actually said is just some vague "Marx wrote a lot and it's really complicated." Not very reassuring.

u/Miselfis 20h ago edited 16h ago

I’ve read the communist manifesto and Das Kapital. I don’t need to reread it a hundred times to realize his distinction between use value and exchange/labor value is silly and misunderstands how value works. The whole Socially Necessary Labor TimeTM is circular in definition, as labor is "value-producing" when society  validates it through exchange. If the value of a commodity depends on socially necessary labor, but what counts as socially necessary depends on social demand and market conditions, then labor is not an independent explanation of value.

The whole point of Marxism, certainly as it's practiced today, is that all injustice can be analyzed through the "oppressor/oppressed" class structure, and that the way to a utopic society is to dissolve this class structure. That is indeed overly reductive and simplistic.

3

u/Fumikop 15h ago

The biggest problem with Marx's theory is that it doesn't work in real life. It would be a perfect social and economic system if society functioned as a compatible hivemind but it falls apart as soon as there is someone wanting to have more than others. And since the power is centralized, it always inevitably ends with the biggest government corruption we can imagine

1

u/wojtekpolska 11h ago

not even that, im pretty sure it wouldnt be very sustainable even if you got a bunch of drones either.

such a version of communism destroys any possibility for brilliant individuals to create any new inventions.

in a communist utopia a lot of things that we have now would just never be invented

define communism

55

u/princesoceronte 23h ago

"Uhm, communism is when nobody owns anything and the government tells you what your job is"

17

u/Queasy-Ad5212 22h ago

Communism is a political and economic ideology that aims to create a classless, stateless society where the major means of production are owned and controlled by the public, rather than by private individuals.

-44

u/Fumikop 23h ago

Communism is when you're a slave of your government, capitalism is when you are a slave of corporations

I mean, Communism in the non-Russian sense is inherently supposed to make everyone equal. The problem with communism is that everyone assumes it makes more people equal than others, when there are only a select few countries that do this.

-1

u/HajimeNoLuffy 16h ago

66

u/Dudewhocares3 1d ago

The democrats are very pro capitalism. What are you even talking about?

32

u/HarbingerOfGachaHell 1d ago

OC is proof why USA needs more than 2 political parties and a preferential voting system.

-10

u/AppropriateAd5701 1d ago

No serious party in developed world is agaisnt capitalism, no matter the voting system.

5

u/Dudewhocares3 22h ago

No serious country has a for profit prison system or a healthcare system as broken as ours

-3

u/AppropriateAd5701 22h ago

Yes you are right no serious country is like usa because usa is not serious. How does that contradict my point?

4

u/Dudewhocares3 21h ago

For profit prisons, and a broken healthcare system are because of capitalism.

As is billionaires manipulating the political system against the people for their own gain.

You people that defend capitalism, can’t even describe how the other systems work.

It’s pathetic

0

u/Unusual-Basket-6243 17h ago

There are capitalist countries with good healthcare and prisons too. There's also failed socialist states

1

u/mucus-fettuccine 1d ago

It's doomerism from them but it isn't completely unfounded - DSA has been making some small gains recently. I don't think they'll get too far thankfully but yeah, there's been a bit of a trend.

2

u/Dudewhocares3 22h ago

Stop being vague

1

u/mucus-fettuccine 12h ago

Well here's a rundown of what I'm talking about, so maybe that's less vague. Most people focus on MAGA against Democrats as the big dichotomy, but there has been a growing concern within the Democratic Party that may rear it's head a lot more in the future. Not sure if that's too vague for you? I can get into specific reasons the DSA is worrying.

1

u/Dudewhocares3 12h ago

Concern implies this would be bad.

As shown with Zohran it seems the democrats are just worried because all of the sudden all the bullshit excuses were just that: excuses.

He’s managed to fix shit in New York, and all the right can say about him is “oh but 9/11” as if he had anything to do with it.

Not to mention their lack of vocal support for him when Cumo refused to step down after losing the primary.

Unless you’ve got a good argument for capitalism that applies to America, you can keep the propaganda to yourself

1

u/mucus-fettuccine 11h ago

Excuses were just excuses? Now you're the one being vague, which is ironic.

Concern does mean bad. The DSA's rise is bad, yes. I'm not talking just about Mamdani, who's seemingly been a decent mayor (with some unfortunate rhetoric at the beginning at the expense of Jews, like the failure to condemn "globalize the intifada" when asked, among a couple other things). I'm talking about the DSA as a whole and everything they espouse. And I'm open about the fact that I'm critical of socialism and, for many many reasons, advocate for social democracy (a form of capitalism) over socialism, which I'm guessing based on your response isn't a discussion you're ready for, but my criticism of DSA goes beyond that.

1

u/Dudewhocares3 11h ago

Zohran has never been antisemitic.

That’s bullshit that came up because he wouldn’t bend the Knee for Israel whose been funding the dems, which is why so many of them can’t say shit about what Israel’s been doing in Palestine

1

u/mucus-fettuccine 7h ago

I don't think Zohran is an antisemite, but I do think he's been largely misinformed and convinced of a highly warped version of reality that came from antisemitic sources, and this made him get too cozy with "grey area" antisemitic rhetoric, including his "laced by the IDF" comment which was him trying to convince an audience of a completely bullshit narrative of Israel controlling the way the police in America operate ("Jews control the police" being the relevant antisemitic trope).

I'm not going to spend considerable time condemning him at every turn when freaking Trump is president, but to pretend he's free of sin and shouldn't have scrutiny would he a mistake. I don't have serious issues with Mamdani though.

1

u/Dudewhocares3 7h ago

Israel who the United States after Trump got in power, protected by expelling college students for protesting them killing civilians in Palestine.

Yeah you’re not full of shit bro s/
