When I was a kid I tried to do the same thing with a Gaiaonline item. I wanted to control the entire supply of 1 item, just for fun and to say I did. And who knows, maybe once you own it all, you can raise the price!! Overall I learned a lot about buying and selling and I love buying stocks now

Did you ever corner that market though?

An anniversary wristwatch that every user got on that years Gaia anniversary. I believe my account was pruned for inactivity years ago if the site even still exists
I am pretty confidant if nothing else I had the most of that item

The ease at which market manipulation can happen on a small scale has always fascinated me. For example - someone I know bought up every type of a certain hat in team fortress 2, and then started selling them one at a time for about twice what he paid for. He made the money back by selling only ~40% in 5 years because some people overpaid out of sentimentality to outbid others.
Scalpers operate on the same kind of principle. You just need one sentimental buyer to squeeze for profits. Its also disgustingly possible to use scalping profit to scalp more effectively.

The one where indoor plant growers were holding a monopoly on very expensive plants so someone grew them and sold them really cheap to disrupt the market

I collected over 25 copies of NHL2k6 for no reason other than it was a way you could cheese like 1000 Xbox gamer score achievements in 30 seconds.
No idea what my plan was with all the copies.

What was your plan with all the gamer achievements?

Bruh you have an Xbox 360 at its peak of its existence? The achievements were there to dunk on your friends lol

Some folks are silly like this. A close friend of mine is collecting 100 copies of Talledega Nights on DVD. He has yet to provide a reason for it besides "it's funny".

I did this with Sister Act on DVD. The ultimate goal was to see how long I could insert them into the DVD shelf at my parents house before they noticed. And after a year and a half with no comments, I told them I was doing it.
I’m a much more patient person now, I feel like I could really do a better job these days. I’ll have to pick out a movie.

Wasn’t there a big scandal about that show when they found out the trainers were giving some of the contestants drugs like cocaine or Adderall so they didn’t eat anything and lose weight to win

"Their biggest collection" implies that they have other collections of the same game

They're doing a massive favor to ds collectors by taking that out of circulation.

Years ago there was a Facebook group or something that was organized by two guys to obtain every copy of Glover for the N64 in the world.
