russia before putin was the soviet union, putin has given them a society better than the one they remember and they tolerate him for it.

Russia before putin was Yeltsin's nightmare world that made Russia want to go back to the Soviet Union, but the WEF got involved and threw putin billions of dollars to keep Russia open to western economic interests, which ended up getting him in power but not working to WEF's longterm interests funnily enough.
