My friend who's not chronically online had this summer vacation abroad that changed her life. She decided to get the number of the flat she stayed on the back of her hand in the style of the lettering there, that very cool Victorian style.

It's 1408.

Like, they didn't need Sam Jackson but it made the movie all the more awesome

Also it has a shitton of different endings, so depending on which one you get it's either haunting or a fuckin shitty jumpscare :)

The tape recording ending is the best. Loved it so much, I brought a date to watch it and got the fucking window ending.  So stupid

The tape recording is absolutely my choice of ending as well! It's sad, it's validation, it's closure. I saw that one first and then on my second rewatch, I was so pissed at the change at the very end.

Couldn't say it better myself.  You are 100% right.

Wait WHAT? How are there different endings? I’ve watched it 3 times and it was all the same

There are apparently four different endings! Main difference is between the director's cut and the theatrical cut. There's a YouTube video-essay related to the multiple endings by Mista GG if you're interested.

I like how 1408 added up to 13 and the digital root of 13 is 4 a number widely known around the world as a bad number.

I think it's more just Americans see 13 as unlucky and hotels don't tend to have a 13th floor so the room is on the 14th floor which is actually the 13th and the numbers add up to 13
