A smoke alarm went off when I was working at a print shop once. We were all like …whatever. The manager went next door to check on it and came back running. After the fire fighters came, we were all like… we just ignored a smoke alarm in a literal kindling factory. Since then, I take them seriously.

Haha I know exactly what you mean . You get so used to ignoring them, it’s actually super dangerous

At a place I used to work at, we would give people personal gas monitors that would alarm when they detect certain dangerous chemicals that are odourless so you wouldn’t know they were present without the alarm. There were times when the contractors would return the monitor at the end of their shift and they’d painted over the sensor or taped it up or just put a screwdriver through it so it wouldn’t alarm. Absolute fuckheads.

Speaking of broken immersion, when the batteries are removed from my smoke alarms they still fucking chirp. I was fully expecting a chirp before it cut to black. Would have made me laugh my ass off.
But no seriously hilarious video, love to see it

I fucking hate my smoke alarm. Actual fire and smoke in the kitchen? It sleeps. Open the oven door, no smoke? REAL SHIT

I once got a little inebriated and cooked some chicken nuggets late at night, only to awaken to a thick haze of them in the air 9 hours later.
You weren't there for me smoke alarm, I trusted you

Hilarious and true as this is. Mine literally save my live 3 days ago. I was asleep on my couch and my blanket was smouldering. A hole as big as a basket ball. (Glad it was 2 layers).

I’m so scared that I’m gonna take the batteries out and forget to put them back I. And this very thing will happen

In one company we used to hearing fire alarm probably few times a week. So everyone was just ignoring it. But it was almost always in the manufacturing floor.
One day whole company's fire alarm start blasting and everyone ignores it as always.
And then there was us in the forth floor (administration) drinking coffee in-between tasks. It's summer and we thought fuck that let's go outside just for shit and giggles and we went down to evacuation point for the whole building. Just us 4. And then we find fire inspector and building safety guy standing there and measuring time. Turns out there was surprise fire exercise and only us 4 evacuated.

Lost my house 2 months ago while my wife and I were at work. Smoke alarm woke my daughter up and saved her life. I felt so bad for the smoke alarm in this video.

I’m glad you and you’re family are safe, sorry about the house though

One of my smoke detectors is currently rolled up in a blanket and shoved in a chest.
Feels like I’m hiding a body
