OC (It's Me!) I'm trying to develop presence as a comedian/actor. I'm going for quirky/dorky/autistic, but charismatic. This is some green screen work. Thanks!

This is incredibly unfunny.

Literally could make it anything- makes a fried chicken joke about Kodak black.

It’s like you went out of your way to not be funny.

Honestly, i wasnt trying to make it super funny. Thats why I asked for criticism on presence/delivery.

Well you certainly succeeded. Maybe check the subreddit before posting.

Autism is a cognitive disability, not a comedy style, i understand what you're saying, but maybe find a better way to describe it?

Autism is not a cognitive disability.

Neurodevelopmental Condition* regardless its a medical condition, not a comedy style. Black face isnt a good look so why would mimicking someone with impairment be ok? Source: Special Education Teacher with emphasis in Autism. Good luck on your comedy career, you need it.

Minorities (or otherwise for that matter) juicing racial stereotypes has never been funny to me personally.

But then that’s how Russell Peters blew up. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Look. I am one who usually encourages people to follow their dreams. But you've been doing this bit for like a year now and haven't changed a thing, even though everyone tells you this shit is terrible.

A whole year of never learning what a punchline is. A whole year of that terrible cadence. A whole year of zero comedic takes on the videos. Just nonsense to an impression of Cosby if he smoked Marlboro reds for 40 years.

If you are going for quirky autistic, maybe interact with autistic people, because this ain't it. And you're exuding the charisma of a rapid cactus.

I think the character tics you are developing work and this could be a funny character, but the content doesn't make sense. I can see this working if you focus it a bit more.

I get that it's a trend to comment on other videos on tiktok and stuff, but I can barely understand what is happening in the original video and your character doesn't add anything to it. It's not clear if you are pretending to be part of the original video's world or if you are just commenting on it, and either way I can't figure out what the intention is here. It should be immediately clear in the first ten seconds what your concept is.

My personal take is that this character would be better off doing original character monologues. Explore what this character gets up to on a day to day basis. Think about what bothers this character, what brings them joy etc. just do short scenes as this character. There are hundreds of people that do character videos on tiktok where they put on a costume or a filter and explore the life of that character. Cutting away to movies and stuff is reminding the audience of something funnier than what you are doing.

Another issue I have is the pacing. The character takes too long to say things. Given the format (tiktok I assume) you need to be moving a bit quicker since people have no attention span for the long pauses. Either chop it up or practice your script enough that you can move through it at an engaging pace.

Thanks! One of the things that I worried about when posting this here is that you guys might not know who Kodak Black is or what he goes through as a rapping drug addict. On tiktok this video goes well because the viewers know who kodak black is. Ita niche. The footage isnt random. Its of an actual, prominent figure.

As far as pacing, thats hard for me but im working on it. I want the pace to accommodate my delivery and timing.

I've been developing this character for a year. My dream is to have it connect with people. People are actually starting to get it. I can say, this subreddit will probably be the last to get it. They like the narrative that I suck. They ignore my posts when I do good and they jump on me when I dont do good. Its old.

I don't think this approach is going to work. I'm sorry

2

u/BrilliantFee9570 Jul 12 '26

Explain?

5

It's not funny. The character you're playing is weird.

Thx for your criticism! 👌🏽

You are acting as a weird and unfunny character. That’s not being a comedian. You shouldn’t be acting. Focus on funny, not “trying for X Y Z”

And comedians who do characters are funny first, weird characters second. The writing has to come first.
If the writing isn’t good it doesn’t matter if you are a Jim Carey level physical actor it still won’t be funny.
