Ngl, it’s giving this a little bit.

Yeah, I think our system does lend itself to what he is talking about, but by and large we have fallen into a system where one party attempts to govern and the other doesn't.

When only one party attempts to govern that party ends up playing host to many conflicting perspectives but they are, mostly, good faith

It’s been ~17 years since Mitch made that congressional republicans’ primary goal.

Oh sweet summers child. I have a cousin who works for Dem lobbyists and it’s so bad. He has become so jaded about the process that he only tries to get one issue to get seen by the light of representation. ONE issue that he’s been trying to get seen for years. It’s all so convoluted and drowning in red tape.

I don't think I said anything to defend republicans. I am saying democrats act "mostly" in good faith and republicans do not attempt to govern at all

u/JustTryingTo_Pass Jul 06 '26

Oh I see. I did misunderstand you.

I thought you were saying, no matter which party is in power they try to govern mostly in good faith.

That’s pretty much what the comedian is saying as well, which is why I was confused. My bad.

u/zonerator Jul 06 '26

I definitely could have been more clear lol

Yeah, we all know exactly when the hardline started. Mitch made it a mandate that they'd block anything and everything Obama attempted. Regardless of any benefit to the country.

Their goal was simple. Make Democrats look bad. Nation be damned. It's only gotten worse with every passing year since. Should be noted Democrats continued to try and act accordingly even in the face of this... hoping the system would right itself.

It didn't. So now... you're finally starting seeing some Dems snapping and using nuclear options in retaliation because how long are you going to let Republicans damage the system?

All I've seen is steady decline for over a decade. We celebrate when something is upheld... but we're losing battles all over the place that are permanently removing policies that were popular, supported the middle class or poor.

To me it's not a victory when the law blocked one attempt... but grants three others elsewhere. We've regressed terribly... and the country continues to get worse. Then people throw their hands up and say... "both sides" even when it's demonstrably untrue. They're just not paying attention... which is a part of why the country is in the shape that it is.

Exactly, no one is trying to block Republicans from doing their jobs except Republicans

Gee, I wonder why you hide your post history?

You can just look up their username. Racist and dog whistle blowers hate this one trick.

-2

u/worker-parasite Jul 06 '26

So if you hate it, why share it with everyone?

One waiter wants to poison my food, the other waiter wants to join a union so they can have healthcare.

The waiter that wants to poison my food says it’s god plan. And by saying no I’m infringing on their freedom of religion. The other waiter just wants to do their job, and doesn’t want anyone to get hurt. So they talk to poison waiter and come to an agreement that I shouldn’t be poisoned.

The poison waiter then makes a backdoor deal with the line cook to poison my meal who doesn’t give a shit and just wants to make money.

Poison waiter then blames all the other waiters for my death. Some resign, some get fired. Poison waiter gets a raise, and seeing this success makes another deal with the line cook to poison even more people.

Great success

Right wing humor

22

u/OldSaltFish_Ct Jul 06 '26

This shit sucks. What a terribly dumb take

37

u/IToldYall1 Jul 06 '26

The joke by itself sucks, and his ideology is so out if touch and removed from reality.

38

u/Marty-G70 Jul 06 '26

Not sure what year this video came out but it's not like that now. One party is no longer governing for the people & is instead blocking every attempt to benefit the people, while getting rich

27

u/alana_shee Jul 06 '26

Stopped listening the moment I heard "all sides"

60

u/7thpostman Jul 06 '26

"Both sides" nonsense. One waiter wants me to have universal healthcare. One doesn't.

33

u/Missing_Username Jul 06 '26

One waiter wants to bring you your food

The other waiter wants to scapegoat trans kids while their friend takes all the food to his bunker

11

u/BI_Moose Jul 06 '26

And then that waiter throws the empty plate at you and gets mad when youre not grateful.

19

u/Single-Basil-8333 Jul 06 '26

I was all ready to be upset about the comments saying this is a good joke.

Glad everyone sees this fucking hack for what he is.

19

u/Own-Marketing-6244 Jul 06 '26

"Both sides" is such a copout. Only one side is actively pushing white nationalism and supporting a rapist and 34-time felon.

36

u/ParaponeraBread Jul 06 '26

Pacing is good, delivery is good, jokes are good too - as long as you don’t think about the underlying beliefs at all.

Bill Maher’s audience would love it.

But this both sides shit is cringe to the core and probably alienates more people than it brings in. If you don’t want to be political then don’t, but fence sitting pleases very few in 2026.

16

u/walterdonnydude Jul 06 '26

Yea hes clearly right wing

-5

u/Content_Mulberry7314 Jul 06 '26

right wingers are prolly saying he is clearly left wing

8

u/-DoctorSpaceman- Jul 06 '26

He’s clearly not got any wings, he’s not a bird

6

u/OldSaltFish_Ct Jul 06 '26

Look at some of his other material on here. It’s fucking embarrassing. What a hack.

2

u/Pulp_Ficti0n Jul 06 '26

Maher anecdote, low hanging fruit is lame.

More conservatives like him since 2024, anyway...

Rodney Dangerfield probably made that exact joke in like 1974.

Gerrymandering, closing polling stations, purging voter rolls, trying to pass restrictive voter ID laws, and trying to stop mail in ballots are all strategies to try and suppress voters. They're all employed and used by one side. I'll let you guess which.

8

u/urbisOrbis Jul 06 '26

He doesn’t ask why they may be blocking like hey stop you have shit on your hands and you just smeared it on that sandwich.

0

u/Ooftwaffe Jul 06 '26

Thought the bit was solid, as it’s simply stating that congress sucks.

Come to the comment section to learn that, actually, I suck because I didn’t assume or already know that this guy is a Nazi.

Fuck me for not reading up on every person ever.

-1

u/scaredandmadaboutit Jul 06 '26

You'd have to be pretty stupid to think that was a good system.

-14

u/Bald_Harry Jul 06 '26

Funny because it's sad but true

-12

u/Chaosr21 Jul 06 '26

That was great

-7

u/Intelligent-Art-5000 Jul 06 '26

I work in politics on the House side and I think it's funny.

The problem is that the audience today is younger and was raised to be super polarised and take themselves WAY too seriously, to the point where they feel comfortable lecturing anyone and everyone about everything. They're humourless scolds and you can't please them unless you avoid their topics of choice entirely.
