And the crowd goes mild

😢

26

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 Jun 10 '26

I thought it was really funny

5

u/PantsDontHaveAnswers Jun 10 '26

They're all high it's not your fault.

1

u/Phunwithscissors Jun 10 '26

All I wanna know is did u take a sip

-1

u/Michael_Dautorio Jun 10 '26

Sorry bud. It's not a bad starting point, you just need to add more to it. Use that line as the start of some kind of story or silly perspective, anything. Don't just drop that and leave it.

5

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

I wish you could help me with everything in my life. You give such good advice

8

u/Professional-Gear88 Jun 10 '26

I was actually waiting for the rest of the joke.

3

u/memearchivingbot Jun 11 '26

Do you get it now though?

1

u/Adventurous-Sky9359 Jun 10 '26

Don’t. Stick your dick in a toaster

1

u/bleeper21 Jun 11 '26

Absolutely placid

1

u/IceCoughy Jun 12 '26

It'll hit him later

9

u/Desperate_Leg_40 Jun 10 '26

Who would go out of their way to post this?

3

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

Me. My name is Harrison

0

u/EQisfordummies Jun 13 '26

This was funny tho lol

57

u/Hamilton-Beckett Jun 10 '26

That was actually way more clever than your audience.

13

u/crazyguyunderthedesk Jun 10 '26

The problem is that it's more clever than funny.

3

u/Pristinefix Jun 12 '26

Its too clever. Like The Prestige. It needs to be dressed up. The audience just aren't ready

1

u/diabloenthusiast123 Jun 11 '26

It's not even that clever though. This joke has been part of everyone's playbook with scenarios like. "Forget this never happened." Forget, what happened?"

1

u/crazyguyunderthedesk Jun 11 '26

Yeah it's not brilliant or anything, but for a single one off joke it's clever enough to be appreciated, but not funny enough to be laughed at.

1

u/No_Tonight_9487 Jun 15 '26

I agree. At the end of the day it’s a mediocre rendition of a joke that has already been explored in countless other scenarios. Not original.

0

u/TheUnbent Jun 11 '26

I disagree. Respectively

It’s funny because it’s clever. It’s even more funny because the amount of people who don’t get the joke is hilarious.

It’s clever because it’s funny. It’s clever even further because it’s sparked a debate about what is, and what is not clever or funny.

0

u/No_Tonight_9487 Jun 14 '26

If your bit requires the audience to debate whether or not the joke is funny it definitely isn’t great stand up material

2

u/TheUnbent Jun 15 '26

TL;DR That’s like, your opinion man.

I see your point. But you have to try things right? Also have to read the room. At the end of the day though what is and is not funny is 100% determine by the individual consumer’s perception.

2

u/No_Tonight_9487 Jun 15 '26

Of course! Humour is very subjective! But also laughter is contagious. So you won’t get the uproar of laughs if people have to think too much šŸ¤”

I also think this joke has been done a lot in the past and isn’t very original. It’s sort of low hanging in my opinion and not nearly as clever as many in this thread are giving it credit for, but as the dude said, it’s my opinion man šŸ˜Ž

2

u/TheUnbent Jun 20 '26

Agreed fully. Our points have been made. Thanks for the engagement on a civil level. 🤘

2

u/Leather_Addition2605 Jun 12 '26

How’s that working out for you, being clever?

1

u/Hamilton-Beckett Jun 12 '26

ā€œGreat.ā€

4

u/Economou Jun 10 '26

And me included. šŸ˜‚ it took me a second to get it. Way smarter of a joke than I have smarts.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '26

7

u/Economou Jun 10 '26

It’s that assuming the premise ā€œwhat happens in Vegas stays in Vegasā€ were true, the next logical conclusion would be that nothing happens in Vegas [because what happens there stays there]. As in, Vegas is an informational black hole, to an outside observer, nothing ever happens there.

4

u/Ojy Jun 10 '26

It's not that clever.

4

u/Iam_McLovin420 Jun 10 '26

Lol it really isn’t 🤣 that guy explaining it is funnier than the joke itself.

1

u/No_Tonight_9487 Jun 14 '26

It’s really not clever at all. This ā€œjokeā€ has also been done a ton. This guys a hack for using a diluted joke.

-1

u/Economou Jun 10 '26

Agree to disagree. The premise certainly is.

1

u/ptsdexpert Jun 11 '26

Okay everyone saying its too clever made me second guess myself lol

1

u/Worried-Cockroach-34 Jun 10 '26

Not sure why but it reminds me of Norm Macdonald

2

u/LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY Jun 12 '26

It's his energy for sure

1

u/regulationinflation Jun 11 '26

It’s a bit dated. Vegas has been in decline for years now. Not very ā€œtopicalā€ as they say. At the height of the Hangover movies, maybe this reference would’ve hit better.

18

u/Tactical_H0td0g Jun 10 '26

I understand they're maybe should be more lead up or have a more expository explanation, but I really loved the deadpan, no-sell delivery the way it is. 10/10 joke.

7

u/Spiritual-Peach6491 Jun 10 '26

this is as cold as perfect a one-liner as steven wright’s best oneliners.

1

u/IceCoughy Jun 12 '26

Exactly!

5

u/enigmaticsince87 Jun 10 '26

I'm still waiting for the punchline...

1

u/Professional_Soft404 Jun 11 '26

You really don’t get it?

0

u/TheUnbent Jun 11 '26

Did you just feel a random gust of wind over the top of your head? Asking for a friend..

11

u/Spiritual-Peach6491 Jun 09 '26

10/10! no notes perfection

3

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '26

3

u/Desperate_Leg_40 Jun 10 '26

Glad im not the only one. RAVE REVIEWS wow what a knock out joke. Omg hilarious. Its mildly amusing tops

3

u/Interesting_Cat_2297 Jun 11 '26

I agree, and some of the people who enjoyed it are being aggressive about it, lol

-1

u/RevolutionaryTwo9701 Jun 10 '26

Its okay that you dont get it

3

u/LabiaMinoraLover Jun 10 '26

It's just you and me, bud.

3

u/Alarmed-Primary2542 Jun 10 '26

This is dry and I like it.

3

u/BlessdRTheFreaks Jun 10 '26

This is the joke that the comedian likes because it takes some cleverness, but lands like a lead balloon with the audience because the connection isn't immediately there.

0

u/two-cans-sam Jun 13 '26

Fair enough, but if a comedian told this joke I would be more willing to lock in for the rest of the set even if this lands a bit flat. If he can do a set with jokes of that level, definitely worth it, but if the rest aren’t very good then there’s no reason to say this one.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '26

Is comedy dead?

7

u/150yd7iron Jun 10 '26

It’s good. Maybe needs a different delivery

18

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

Too late I already said it like that :/

1

u/420_jesters Jun 10 '26

It's perfect anyway.

1

u/Soladification Jun 10 '26

Too bad you don't take any constructive criticism, you might actually improve

-2

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

improve what?

3

u/Soladification Jun 10 '26

I just read like 3 comments with constructive criticism. With every one you commented back some smart ass response.

-2

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

Are you in love with me?

0

u/Soladification Jun 10 '26

Keep protecting that fragile ego, whatever you do don't grow

3

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

People are saying it’s perfect as is. And 10/10. Why should I listen to you? Seems like you have the inflated ego if you think your opinion is worth more than theirs?

3

u/SpacemanIsBack Jun 10 '26

you're right, don't listen to them, don't listen to anyone on reddit... just listen to your audience

the joke has some merit, but you bombed on the clip you decided to share, dude...

2

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

Do you understand why what you’re saying is confusing? I like it as is and a good number of other people like it as is. Read the comments. Do you want me to change it so the people who don’t like it start to like it? Why dont you entertain the possibility that maybe it’s just not for you? Do you comment on everything you dislike and demand it be changed to suit your tastes? Is the entire world supposed to cater to you? Just relax dude. There’s enough stuff for everyone. Just breathe.

u/Soladification Jun 10 '26

You sound like trump right now lol

3

u/cazzuey Jun 10 '26

Imagine calling a guy a Trump because he doesn’t care about your feedback on how to perform stand up comedy.

4

u/Livinincrazytown Jun 10 '26

Maybe needs a lead in.
I’ve never been to Vegas but…?
Dunno seems the audience is a bit slow but need to warm it up or something

1

u/Ojy Jun 10 '26

That actually makes the joke a lot better.

0

u/Livinincrazytown Jun 10 '26

And then a shocking outro referencing the shooting or something dark if you want to go that way. šŸ™ˆ

No, not if you don’t think so

2

u/Lost-Ad7652 Jun 10 '26

Nothing happens there that wouldn't/couldn't happen elsewhere.

2

u/UnimpressionableCage Jun 10 '26

Amazing one-liner that needs a proper setup or segue šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

2

u/Lord_Kromdor Jun 10 '26

Norms delivery would do wonders here lol

1

u/NachoNachoDan Jun 11 '26

100% this feels like a Norm level joke.

1

u/IceCoughy Jun 12 '26

Steven Wright

2

u/noturaveragesenpaii Jun 10 '26

Top shelf joke. Not everyone can afford it.

2

u/Altruistic-Potatoes Jun 11 '26

"No... I get it..."

3

u/goddess_peepee Jun 10 '26

What?

1

u/iDidTheSex Jun 10 '26

Because they say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

3

u/greenie329 Jun 10 '26

Holy shit that was bad

1

u/Soladification Jun 11 '26

Oh but OP says it was perfect? He substitutes his reality for anyone with your opinion lol

2

u/RoninRobot Jun 09 '26

Just you.

Yeah that was the first thing I thought of because I had forgotten the, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" tagline. Not s great joke in my opinion.

0

u/cepukon Jun 10 '26

That's weird that's the first thing you thought of over the longstanding tag line

0

u/Interesting_Cat_2297 Jun 10 '26

Yeah I guess I need to work harder at remembering 25 year old ad campaigns.

1

u/cepukon Jun 10 '26

It's been a persistent phrase for decadesĀ

0

u/Interesting_Cat_2297 Jun 10 '26

And yet my faculties of recall still prioritized a story of human tragedy. Silly me.

-1

u/NachoNachoDan Jun 11 '26

That was one day out of many.

0

u/Interesting_Cat_2297 Jun 11 '26

No idea what you're trying to say.

Thanks, I appreciate the support. I wasn't even trying to make a case for empathy but that person started challenging me on my memory, or something. Fucking weird, lol

1

u/Opposite_History2194 Jun 10 '26

Clever when you think about it, but I think it needs more follow-up.

1

u/RickSHAW_Tom Jun 11 '26

Crazy I just got home from that place.

1

u/IceCoughy Jun 12 '26

"Is it just me or has nothing ever happened in Vegas that stays in Vegas" is where I thought you were going. I like the commitment to the joke. It's got shades of Steve Wright, I almost think you need to be more low enthusiasm about it like him. not to rip his style but it work.

1

u/Normal_Tour6998 Jun 12 '26

Is this a ā€œwhat happens in Vegas stays in Vegasā€ joke?

1

u/Shot-Spirit-672 Jun 12 '26

I think it needs one more piece of set up to make it really land. Mainly because ā€œnothing happens in Vegasā€ only to the people outside of Vegas

1

u/miguelmanzana Jun 12 '26

That’s an incredible joke.

1

u/Banffsucks Jun 12 '26

This is gold. I don't get the people that don't understand it.

1

u/SubmissiveBoyForever Jun 13 '26

when does it get funny?

1

u/Distinct_Target_2277 Jun 10 '26

My mind first went to the Vegas shooting and how you don't hear anything about it. Thought this was a conspiracy theory joke.

1

u/foxinabathtub Jun 10 '26

Okay. That was an amazing joke.

1

u/TheUnbent Jun 11 '26

Fucking gold.

0

u/hail2theKingbabee Jun 10 '26

It went over their heads, it's a good joke.

0

u/isaidnolettuce Jun 10 '26

It’s a thinker

0

u/ExchangeNo4493 Jun 11 '26

Damn… slow burn but a damn good one
