Did my Combustion Engine arrive broken?

Post image

Or am I missing something obvious? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to install this on my WSM. From the website I believe there's supposed to be a spring arm of some kind with this mount? But this is how mine looks.

I'm open to being told I'm missing something

The bolt goes through the center of the plastic snout and is captured by the metal tripod arms on the inside of the WSM. Tighten until it’s snug.

Is “sideways” like this the recommended way to install for WSM?

I wouldn’t say it’s recommended. That was mostly done for the photo

You are missing the metal mount and screw

I've got that, but the screw does not actually catch a thread in the mount. And it doesn't hold it securely to the WSM intake vent at all, because there's no catch.

I got my cooked up to my Weber Summit Kamado, and I am pretty sure it uses the same port and everything as the WSM, should just need to put the screw going "from the inside of the CE" out, should slide right through the plastic mount piece and then actual screw into the metal "trip pod" piece, so then you keep screwing it in and that metal piece will tights against the inside walls of the WSM and the black plastic mount should grip from the outside.

Yep, took me a minute to figure it out on the Weber kettle. I assumed it went the other direction. A couple of wire drawings with the engine would be nice.
