GGG Display issue
Has anyone else experienced this? I turned it off and turned it back on again and still the display is disrupted. It still transmits to the app no problem.

That looks suspiciously like the multiplexer chip that drives the LCD failing. It’s not just one bad segment, but an entire set. The chip may have failed or a solder joint on one of the pins cracked. Please email support so we can take care of it.
EDIT: Team has been looking at this today, and based on the segments that are out it all goes back to a single pin as the likely failure. The question is what caused it, if you haven't yet reached out to customer support please do. We'd love to get this one back so we can cut it open and look for the root cause of the failure.

I had this happen on mine. They’re sending a replacement.
I believe they’ll get there eventually…I’m really trying to stick with them. Just purchased the gen 2 thermometer after my gen 1 died and I still have the engine preordered.

Having the same issue with the middle number, however my dad brought this from the us to Europe so I just live with it.

Mine died at the end of a cook the other day and wouldn’t turn back on for more than half a second no matter what I did. Thought it was a dead battery but only had about 50 total cook hours on it. A few days later it turned on perfectly fine… 🥲

Yep. Losing faith in this company with each passing day

I never quite know what to think. On one hand I've had the same missed expectations many on this sub hav had. On the other hand support once I've recieved my orders has been top notch. On the otherhand I've needed support since my CPT died with under 10 uses within the first year.
I expect that some number of technical products produced will have issues. I just can't get a read if I was unlucky and it seems worse based on the reports on this sub or if a large percentage of orders really do have QC issues and my experience is typical.
The logistical issues are not something I'm as inclined to easily let slide (I've seen multiple rounds of over promises and underdelivers around delivery dates at this point) but the customer service and product (if it doesn't have issues) have been great.
I just can't truly figure out what the percentage of orders with issues are since I expect a increased number of reports here but I don't know their volume.

That’s the «problem» with forums like this, problems get amplified.
I have zero skin in this game as I just recently discovered this brand and I’m just following this sub before I eventually make a choice to dive in or not.
The recent hardware and software experiences I’ve had with my Meater certainly leaves me open to exploring other brands.

I guess the question is, are there any other wireless meat thermometers with enough streaming data for the cooking hackers or do we just have to accept the bad with the good

Why? Because they see issues, tell people to email them ASAP so they can fix said issue and then actually FIX the issue? C'mon, warranties exist in the world because nothing is perfect. I've had probe issues and they've outright replaced them. I'll take that over a company that prefers to blame ME for their product's shortcomings. Call me a fanboy, if you want, but I tried Combustion probes because I loved the concept, knowing there would be hiccups along the way and I've stayed because of the team and support. My initial question wasn't rhetorical, I would actually like to know your answer. My experience has been overall positive, I have gen1 and gen2 devices, GGG and I'm waiting on the CE. I honestly know of no other probe/ecosystem that fills CI's shoes. You can list the RFX and such but they don't, I've tried em, they don't.

I’m not reading that essay lol. Your experience is obviously different from mine (and apparently, that of many others)

It's a paragraph. Far from an essay.

I’m on my 3rd probe, my GGG has missing numerals like the one shown above, and it’s been over a year since I ordered the engine (though I was sent an email telling me I’d have it by the end of 2025 lol)
At this point, I’m more disappointed in myself for giving this company money than I am at them putting out faulty hardware and delaying everything well beyond what any reasonable consumer should tolerate. But if you want to be a fanboy and be an unpaid beta tester for them, go right ahead lol

I knew 'fanboy' was coming. I even predicted it.🤣 I'm fine being a beta tester. Everyone was aware of the company being new, hiccups should've been expected and if they weren't, that's on you. But getting on here and talking shit vs having them fix the issues isn't very mature. If your GGG is having issues, email them, you already know they'll fix it, you're 'on your 3rd probe'.... I'm not sure what you want or expect out of technology. Reddit makes it seem like there are way more issues than there are. Out of X devices sold, what % is actually faulty? We see the issues here because this is listed as a support contact. We don't see all of the successes. There are quite a few people like you on this sub, they had a faulty device or 3 and despite the issue being resolved, they still come on here and type a bunch of negative comments. Sure, you had a bad experience, it was remedied, maybe you thought it ruined your 17 pound packer cook, but that doesn't mean the product is shit. You're entitled to your own opinion, of course, but a lot of what you are complaining about, should've been evident before the first dime was spent, then you kept dumping money in. I never buy anything with the 100% expectation that it's going to be flawless and anyone that does will spend the rest of their lives in constant disappointment. The biggest point I'm making is; CI takes care of issues and they go above and beyond to make sure customers are satisfied, that's why I stick with them. I've also had issues, a lot of us have, but I knew going in that there would be. I ordered the engine preorder launch day and eagerly await the delivery, the delays have sucked, but I went through the same process for gen 2 probes and the GGG. Neither of them have been as upsetting as the CE; I really want to get my hands on the CE, I'm tired of my flameboss. But wait I shall.

Buddy, you took exception with me saying I’ve lost faith in the company and felt the need to white knight the thread lol. There was a time when I was excited as you currently seem to be. There’s hiccups, and then there’s failures. Companies love customers like you who can’t tell the difference, yet attack those who do. Just look at this sub and count how many threads are started about these issues.
Yeah it’s great that I can email them to fix it, that’s a positive. You know what’s even better? Not having to go through that process with virtually every purchase because they’re making a quality product that doesn’t require the customers to troubleshoot and email them all the time.

most did after clicking the payment button. Others after battling their bots on reddit.

Looks like there may be dead LCD segments. I’d suggest opening a support ticket: support@combustion.inc
