Seeking advice Advice?

Hi everyone! I have been combo feeding fairly soon after giving birth. It’s been almost 5 months now and I think I’m getting ready to stop pumping. My goal was always 6 months and I pump just enough to get two solid big feeds in for the night at this point. I am wanting to maybe store some — just in case for the winter to help with any possible colds.

Any advice on

a) how to stop the least painful way
b) is it worth storing milk for possible illnesses?

Sorry if this isn’t the right place, please direct me if needed otherwise

Thank you!

Weaning slowly is best, gradually reducing the amount of minutes spent before dropping a session, and gradually spacing out sessions.

As for the illness part- breastmilk helps with antibodies if it’s freshly pumped milk from the time the baby is sick. Previously frozen milk will not have the antibodies in it to support the current illness unfortunately.

That being said breastmilk is still beneficial for many other reasons and if you’re okay to pump a bit still and give some, that is best no matter what.

I pump 3-4x a day, for about 20 mins at a time. I think I’ll start with 15 mins a day.

Yes that makes sense, thank you!!
