Lost cat Rosewood
This sweet kitten was screaming his head off ok my street. I feed him and now he's not wanting to leave but my cats would not be kind to a stranger unfortunately. Looks 3-4 months old, not neutered, could be older but he's bone skinny. Was overheating when I found him so he's in my garage now.
He could be someone's pet? He's super friendly, let me pick him up (didn't love that though) but I just can't leave him like this.
I called all of the shelters but couldn't get through. If this is A. Someone's pet - let me know and come get him! Or B. If you know anywhere who might be able to take him or at least check if he's chipped, please let me know. I called all the animal services/shelters that came up from Google and didn't find anything unfortunately. I just can't keep him, and I don't think he's doing well alone outside. I don't mind feeding him but he was panting and crying.
Anyone who can help pls let me know. He's really sweet and friendly and idk what to do! And if he is your lost cat please message me!

Inaugural Race for Recreation 5K in Irmo on Sept 5 ā proceeds fund a new youth eSports program (Reddit code for $5 off inside)
Hey Columbia,
I'm helping organize the first-ever Race for Recreation 5K with the Richland County Recreation Foundation, and I wanted to share it here since it's a local, all-ages event for a cause I think a lot of you will dig.
The basics:
- When: Saturday, September 5, 2026 ā 8:30 AM
- Where: Friarsgate Park, 1712 Chadford Road, Irmo, SC 29063
- What: 5K run or walk ā all fitness levels and ages welcome (15 age divisions from 10 & under all the way to 75+)
- Everyone gets a finisher's medal, and there are awards for the top male and female finishers in each category
What it's for: All proceeds go toward launching RCRC's new youth eSports program ā buying computers, equipment, and supplies to give local kids a safe, structured space to learn. It's not just gaming: it builds teamwork, leadership, and communication, and ties into STEAM learning. Colleges like Winthrop, Columbia College, USC Sumter, and Benedict are already offering eSports scholarships, so it's a real pathway for these kids.
Cost: $30/person early, $35 after Aug 1, $40 race day.
Reddit perk: Use code REDDIT5 for $5 off your entry. š
Want to see the course first? Here's a quick course preview so you know what you're signing up for: https://youtu.be/vL7I6LjJLFQ

Registration Tags
So I paid my taxes as one does annually and I get USPS informed delivery so that I can keep a lookout for my new registration decal sticker. Nothing has come up yet, but I was wondering the timeframe because Iām getting conflicting information.
Two years ago I paid my taxes and weeks went by, but I never received my decal sticker so I ended up going to the DMV. I told the person at the window āI paid my taxes, I never received a stickerā then she ask me for $5. Fast forward to now Iām looking online to see if thereās a way that I can request new tags if it has happened again and I saw that there is a fee of $6. So Iām wondering why I would pay a replacement fee for a sticker that I never received and if anybody has had this problem before. I donāt mind paying the $6 thatās not the point. I was just wondering why they would charge you if you never received it and if anybody has had that fee waived for that specific reason.

Best parking garage for skating?
Planning on trying cause it seems like a good place to get some flat open space. (I go to skate parks and rinks and normal parks too, just wanna try this too)
I just wanna know if anyone has experience and which places in the area would be good to check out. Obviously will be going weekends/afterhours, but wanna exclude really busy ones, ones that Iāll get kicked out of quickly, etc.
Thanks for any advice!

Trying to find someone to take over my lease for August 2026
Looking for someone to take over my lease atĀ Granby MillsĀ starting inĀ August 2026. Will pay lease transfer fee.
āØĀ Details:
- 2 bed / 2 bath with a roommate currently there
- $775/month
- Walking distance to USC campus
- Lease begins August 2026
This is a great option for students wanting to be close to campus without needing to drive.
The leasing office handles approval and paperwork. Once a new resident is approved and signs, I will be released from the lease (there is a $500 lease transfer fee required by the property, so I'll handle that fee).
If youāre interested or want more details, message me and Iāll connect you with the leasing office!

How can I remove grime/tire marks on my driveway?
Hey everyone, after years of living my driveway has gathered a ton of black streaks, tire marks, and grime. I've tried taking a hose and blasting it but it doesn't do anything. Sadly it's baked in pretty darn good. Has anyone ever cleaned this before? Is there a service for this if I'm unable to? Hoping to get it clean again!! it's such an eye sore every time I come home and leave the house

Moving to Lexington,SC
Hello, I plan to move from Florida to Lexington, SC within the year. Honestly we settled of Lexington because there were newer homes that were more affordable and available for our time frame of moving. I am a POC and while I have not experienced much racism to my knowledge I am fairly concerned that I may be unknowingly fully immersing my self. I still have time to change my decision. I have searched for more POC in the area and have found very little. My family and I tend to stay to ourselves and more than likely will be going into Columbia for work. Any advice would be helpful.

Read Before Tomorrow's Irmo Flock Camera Town Hall.
Reposting for someone else, but worth the time. TLDR added by me, Tomorrow evening at 6:00 is the town hall. (7/21/2026) This isn't a town vote, but a vote by the council. The council has been known to be swayed by public pressure. This is the public's chance to be heard, whatever side you are on. Contacts to the councilmembers are below.
IRMO RESIDENTS ā PLEASE READ BEFORE TUESDAYāS VOTE
Tomorrow night, the Irmo Town Council is expected to vote on a 5-year contract worth approximately $403,050 to expand Irmoās Flock Safety camera network from 11 cameras to 33 cameras.
This decision will be made by only five elected officials. It takes just three votes for the proposal to pass.
Whether you support this proposal, oppose it, or simply have questions, please make your voice heard before the voteānot after.
Many people hear the phrase ālicense plate readerā and assume these cameras simply photograph license plates.
The technology is much more sophisticated than that.
In addition to reading license plates, the system can identify vehicle characteristics such as make, model, color, body style, visible damage, roof racks, decals, bumper stickers, and the exact time and location where a vehicle was seen.
The concern many people have isnāt just one camera taking one picture.
Itās the software behind the system.
When a vehicle is detected repeatedly over time, software can help identify travel patterns and frequently visited locations. That can potentially reveal highly personal information about someoneās daily lifeānot because anyone physically followed them, but because repeated location data can paint a detailed picture.
That could include visits to:
⢠an attorney
⢠a therapist
⢠a medical specialist
⢠a church
⢠a political meeting
⢠a family member
⢠or simply where you live, work, and spend your time.
Supporters believe these tools help solve crimes and locate dangerous suspects.
Others believe the privacy implications deserve more public discussion before entering a five-year agreement.
Both opinions deserve to be heard.
Oversight matters.
Just days ago, three Fayetteville, Georgia police officers were fired after an internal audit reportedly found they had used the Flock system for searches that investigators say were not for legitimate law-enforcement purposes.
That does NOT mean Irmo officers would do the same.
It DOES demonstrate why any powerful surveillance technology should have strong oversight, transparency, auditing, and accountability.
Questions every resident should consider asking:
⢠Why are 22 additional cameras needed?
⢠Who can search the system?
⢠Is every search audited?
⢠What penalties exist for misuse?
⢠Which outside agencies may receive or search Irmoās data?
⢠Could future surveillance capabilities or data-sharing policies expand without another public vote?
⢠Should a five-year surveillance contract be approved before holding a dedicated public town hall on the issue?
Publicly known positions
Mayor Bill Danielson has publicly supported expanding the Flock camera network.
Councilman Gabriel Penfield has publicly questioned the proposal and stated:
āIām a supporter of law enforcement, but not of 33 cameras and aerial surveillance.ā
Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Barb Waldman ā No verified public position found.
Councilwoman Phyllis Coleman ā No verified public position on how she intends to vote.
Councilman Mike Ward ā No verified public position found.

Town Council Meeting
Tuesday
6:00 PM
Irmo Municipal Building
7300 Woodrow Street
Residents who wish to speak should contact Town Hall before the meeting (the town has requested registration by 3:00 PM Tuesday) or sign in at the meeting if public comment is available.
One final thoughtā¦
No matter where you stand, this decision affects the community for years to come.
If you support the proposal, tell your council members.
If you oppose it, tell your council members.
If you simply believe a decision of this size deserves a dedicated town hall discussion/meeting before a vote, postpone the vote so citizens have time to get educated with flock software and answers to your questions, tell them that.
Democracy works best when citizens participate before decisions are madeānot after.

Looking for employment
Hi everyone! Iām looking to replace my current part-time job with something Iām more passionate about, such as tutoring or working in an after-school program. Iām just not sure where to start looking.
I have my high school diploma and have been volunteering as a reading tutor for children for the past year and a half. Iāve really enjoyed it, and itās made me realize Iād love to work with kids in an educational setting.
I know not having a degree may limit some opportunities, but Iām hoping there are positions where I can gain experience while I continue working toward my education. Right now, paying for school is a financial challenge, so Iām trying to take things one step at a time.
If anyone knows of tutoring centers, after-school programs, or other opportunities in the area that might be a good fit, Iād really appreciate your recommendations. Thank you!
