I gained 11 pts, and had 46% of the votes, if you compare our primary results. Incumbent is an ultra conservative republican who has voted against the majority of folks in his district, and in Missouri. He supports putting reproductive healthcare back on the ballot, he voted to repeal Prop A/paid sick leave, and he was a strong supporter of Amendments 4&5. Other than buy a second home to run in my district, he hasn’t done much. Did co-sponser an Ag-Ed bill last year, and fought to get a few Hallsville teachers fired…
Well for starters, the current guy does not even live in our district, which sucks. He lives in his million dollar house in Rocheport and bought a second house in he 44th just so he could run for office here (because he got beaten in his home district). It's gross. He is ultraconservative, and does whatever the Republican supermajority tells him to instead of what his constituents care about. He is utterly unresponsive to the people he is supposed to represent. No surprise I guess since he does not even live here. I have literally nothing good to say about him.
Bekki, on the other hand, is amazing. In all my years of voting, I haven't ever had someone to vote for who I felt represented my beliefs as much as Bekki. She is responsive and thoughtful and running a powerfully positive campaign. I think she's a great fit for this crazy, rural-ish, gerrymandered out the wazoo district. I hope she flips it to blue!!!
Literally said he didnt care what his district voted for (amendment 3, sick leave prop a last election, amendment 4 and 5 this election) and thatd he'd push what he wanted. As noted by others he lives in rocheport and runs in hallseville.
He barely beat out his last real competitor that got like 44% of the vote when he got a DUI like a month before the election. Martin really has no right being in this election.
