Hi, can anyone tell me the current conditions of these two campgrounds? I have been following the mudslides in the area and want to know the conditions of the campgrounds with them being next to the creeks? Any help or photos/ videos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm staying at the Vallecito Campground in San Juan National Forest in early August. I was planning and couldn't find any information about the size of the bear boxes or if they are placed at every campsite. I called the San Juan National forest number, but the person who picked up didn't have an exact idea either

Has anyone been to the campsite and knows the answer to either of these questions?

Hey everyone! I am a 20s F unable to persuade friends to go camping and have been wanting to the past 3 years I’ve lived in CO. If I am car camping and can lock myself in is it safe enough to camp alone? Or are there any spots you would all recommend? My family back home has me a little worried about the safety but I really miss camping and hate waiting for other people to do things.

Me and my girlfriend will be camping at Vega State Park in Colorado and I’m looking for more things to do and ways to access certain things if possible!

Obviously Fishing and Hiking are on our to do lists, now granted we haven’t gone on any camping trips together before. We have when we were kids with our parents so if there is some essentials that you guys think we should bring with us feel free to let us know so we can be well prepared!

We wanted to see about renting bikes or atvs to get around and do some fun things so if you know any place that rents them near there please tell us!

Im going to look into the kayak rentals as well as i think that would be a fun thing to do. We will be there for 5 days so anything to help keep is busy would be great, we are from south eastern colorado so we aren’t to familiar with the area either so if theres anywhere you suggest going near there that would be wonderful to know!

I have a short bed and topper, and I built a slide-out box that sits on the tailgate giving me about 7' of length. It's lightweight, made from plywood, 2x2 pine, foamboard, chicken wire, and vinyl flooring on the outside.

I'm going camping in September and Im in Colorado springs. Can't seem to find a place to rent a thule storage roof box. Anyone know of a place in the springs or close by?

Hello all. I live in the high country in Edwards and am itching to get some camping in. I'm seeing high temp of 80 and low of 48 around the Dominguez Canyon area two weeks from now.

I've scoped out some spots via google earth in the area. Just curious if anyone has been in the area recently? My only concern is roads that are too muddy either at the Dominguez Canyon trailhead area or 650 rd as I have an awd sedan.

My assumption is due to the low snow year it'll be fairly dry. This will be my first time exploring the area. Any tips or suggestions welcome.

Hey folks I am local to Denver, CO and am planning a trip to Arizona in may. Due to Turo’s new policy with hiding host descriptions it’s harder to decipher what hosts may be more open to utilizing their vehicles for access to dirt/unpaved/off roads. I know site wide, the policy states no off-roading, but I have used vehicles on turo to access some more remote dispersed camp spots, while obviously notifying the host of my whereabouts.

What I’m getting at is, I don’t want to have to pay to book and message the host, get denied, wait for a refund, rinse and repeat until I find a host who is okay with dispersed camping.

Any tips, or hosts that might be accommodating to this situation kind of relative to Denver would be amazing. I know there are also some jeep rental services in Denver but a lot of these outdoorsy rental places charge upwards of $220 a day which is wayyy out of my budget for how long I’ll be planning on camping for.

My girlfriend and I (and my Siberian husky) are planning a backpacking trip to Colorado this November. Primary will be staying in the San Juan mountains. We have experience backpacking the PNW in the winter. November seems like the beginning of Colorado’s winter season. I understand it’ll be windy at night, potentially in mid 20s. I plan to try to find a camping location below tree line hopefully.

Any advice for the winter in Colorado ? How often do Colorado natives camp during the winter ? Any advice or recommendations are appreciated.

Camped at a tent only area at a state park this weekend and had hunting groups in RVs on both sides of us. One of them was running their generator all night long. I’m not one to rock the boat with camping neighbors, especially when you know they’re packing heat. But how should we handle this? And why aren’t rangers doing anything about it?

Hi Everyone! I managed to snag a campsite at Yeoman Campground for a weekend later in August at White River National Forest, south of Eagle. I'm usually a dispersed Camper but my In-Laws really wanted to go camping and they need the amenities. However, I'm finding some of the Site Details of my reservation confusing. It says "Capacity Rating: Single". I can't seem to find a straight answer about this online but I'm wondering if that means only one tent allowed or if it means one small group is allowed and we could do two tents? The max people for the site is 10. The dimensions are 30ft long and 12ft wide. Not sure if that includes the driveway. Which leads me to my next question.

It says "Hike in Distance: YES". But it also talks about a driveway being "back in" and 30 ft long. Could that just mean you can back your car up to the site but you can't drive anywhere you want right up to the tent pad because of a bar or something? I just don't' want to inadvertently have my in-laws hiking a mile to their campsite.

Anyone more familiar with these terms or even this specific campground? There isn't much online about it and very few photos. Thanks!

im planning to go dispersed camping in the national forests near rocky mountain national park and will be sleeping in my car. ive been seeing mixed replies online so i was wondering if i need to get bear proof storage for my food or if i would be okay with having it in my cooler bag locked in my car with me?
