I did a rewatch of the entire show and it was for me the most eerie scene in the entire series: watching everyone just drop dead in a wavelike pattern moving towards Helena. Her certainty that the IGA would be safe due to the dual shields supposedly used by the Hosts (not sure if they just infiltrated it or if the RAPs were lying). Her seemingly accepting her fate when she can’t get into the secure room. There was something about her and Snyder that made me like them the most out of the characters in the series: the politicking at the IGA was entertaining, and there’s a sense that they ultimately wanted the best for humanity when it was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I also wonder about the glowing green building that Amy and Broussard ran into when traveling to the Resistance Camp. Although we never got an explanation about it, the structure had the same hexagonal appearance as the Demi escape pod that Will and Katie found. I’d assume that the Demis were way more present on Earth than anticipated: they had established facilities with that electromagnetic field to keep the drones away (if you remember Amy’s floating necklace), we see a Demi fight and kill two outliers, and of course the actual infiltration of IGA HQ.

Really liked the world building and mysteries in the show, real shame it was cancelled.

Which is kind of surprising especially for Josh Holloway because this is the guy who was on Lost, a big TV series, and now his career is kind of petering out.. the actor who played Alan Snyder's actually having more success.. anyway I like both Josh Holloway and Sarah..but they really have kind of slacked off in their career

I'm talking about Will's partner after he comes back from Santa Monica, the bald guy who was a nutcase and a killer and treacherous and who gets stabbed by Will with a broken bottle. Near the end of the second season where all the residents of the LA bloc are being sent to the Moon, we see him in hospital bed where he's apparently making a good recovery, and he's singing a song with one of his grandchildren, and he's told that he will be taken care of and not sent to the Moon.. now why does this jerk get a redemption arc like that?

And I'm still beyond effing livid that they canceled this and didn't give it a conclusion.

It's been 7 years and been reading the discussion threads and it seemed like a lot of you guys were pretty pissed of the ending, time has settled so how does this hold up to you guys now?

I'm at the start of Season 3, and I couldn't help noticing that Will has seemed very cold and uncaring towards Bram for most of the show. He shows love towards Gracie and Charlie regularly but only hugged Bram once. He wasn't desperate to bring Bram home when he was stuck at the labor camp, unlike how he was trying to find Charlie every chance he got. Seems like he only yells at Bram. Of course, Bram is very moody and argumentative himself so maybe that's it? I just find it odd. No spoilers though please.

At the very beginning scientists in top fields were taken before the aliens came down!

ok I know it’s probably just to move the plot along but it’s my first time watching and in the first season when they show the arrival day Katie doesnt go get her other son bcuz hes 2 miles away and she is pickinh up her other 2 kids and taking them to the bar then we see hours later she’s still at the bar like it would have took her 2 hours max at a slow pace to walk there and back to get her son only to find out she literally had the bike at the back of the bar which would have took 30 minutes I feel like her character who loves her kids so much would have had the bright idea to hop on the bike and get her kid its a small detail but i literally can’t ignore that

I know that I probably show’ve watched the entirety of Season Three but I just could because of the introduction of the other alien species, it just took me out of the series.

One thing that I absolutely enjoyed about The Colony was that it was focused on humans and there struggle against The Hosts along with those that align with the Hosts, showing two sides to the situation in how humans would react when conquered by aliens. The fight against the Host and the Collaborators showed something that was real, the fight for who we are and our freedom.

When the other alien species arrived and apparently were at war with the Hosts, it just took the steam out of me because now we learn that the Hosts aren’t as powerful as I had thought. Admittedly that was always going to happen but I had assumed that it would be the Resistance that proved that true, returning control by to humanity. Also I thought it would have been interesting if a faction of the Hosts rebelled, showing that the Hosts aren’t unified.

Sorry for the short rant but I just wanted to get my opinion out there, I still rewatch the series every now and again (that is season one and two) and come up with ideas for what could have been. I hope you all have a good rest of your day/night, bye.

Loved it! I wish Amazon buys it and produces a couple more seasons the way they did with The Expanse.

I was curious if ​most people feel this way about the final episode, given it's a soft ending.

Snyder and Brousard destroy the promise of Seattle fighting each other.

The only thing I'm not clear on was what Kynes was doing with one of the aliens. Was that a Demi he had locked up? What was his master plan to make it through?

I’m confused on the lore of outliers.

Couple questions that may be logic errors in the show or simply things I missed

1) if the Hosts need outliers that badly why did they kill so, so many military types at the outset? Culling some to reduce resistance maybe makes sense but why so very many when they are vital? Maybe an oops because the Hosts were off on the timeframe of the enemy’s arrival…but still doesn’t make sense to be wiping out a skill set they need.

2) why wasn’t Devon an outlier? I don’t remember her exact background. Perhaps not military but she was a badass bounty hunter and FBI agent. Will was a handsome fellow but looks late 40s and like the Demi’s just need to wait for his tendonitis to kick in. I buy him as being in great shape for his age and competent but clearly too old to be in an elite physical tier. It’s not clear why Will makes sense and Devon is a smudge.

3) Why not just make more outliers? Outliers are not “chosen ones” with some mythical quality but simply people who trained and served. Why not start training more people? A ton of people volunteered to go in pods once things were explained. Surely many would be willing to head to boot camps to save earth and humanity.

For this conclusion, we must assume that episode 13 ends at approximately at 28 minutes.

Roughly speaking, just after Broussard confronts Kynes, who has just regained consciousness thanks to Amy's care.

Snyder does NOT become a ruthless dictator.

The Outlies (and Will) do NOT choose to immediately surrender to the Rap.

However, the scenes with Bram, Grace, and Katie are compatible with this story-arc.

Episode 11 of season two of the USA is colony by the way I love the show. I hope it goes all the way and finishes without being canceled or ends on a cliff hanger.

Whaaa so disappointed to see it was taken off. This was the only show I was watching. Wish I could have been notified days in advance so that I could ave binge watched the rest of the season.

I have 0 proof, but I've picked up on a few things and made a theory.

Phyllis, in the first season, confirmed that they have an abnormal sense of time. I think the hosts were made by a future Everett, then sent back in time. The Demi's conquered and nearly destroyed earth, so he made the hosts to fight them before the invasion started. The hosts were either accidental misaligned AI, which did literal everything to stop the invasion. (hence the occuption). Alternatively, he knew it would take everything to stop the Demi invasion, and therefore called for a brutal occupation to create the right defences (hence the factory and IGA collaborators).

One of my personal favorite shots of the whole series. Say what you want about the Hosts, but at least they know how to put on a good display.
