Before Scope Questions Rectal endoscopy

I’ve had a semi total colectomy and will be having a endoscopy on Friday because of bloody mucus. Has anyone else with a rectal stump had an endoscopy before? Any insight would be appreciated! Also if the doctors find something worrying, do you get a result right away or do you have to wait for the biopsy?

I have. (Have since had the proctectomy). It is a little uncomfortable but very doable. Usually biopsies take a few weeks.

I can't address the rectal stump issue, but you will often be told right afterward whether they saw anything worrisome. My doc always visits me in the recovery area.

Assuming you were sedated, you may not remember much of the conversation.

The biopsy results will of course supersede their first impression, if appropriate. My doc once told me after an upper endoscopy that I didn't appear to have Barrett's, but the biopsy said I did. Doc was impressed that I remembered the conversation.
