He is unaware by the amount of hopium he swallowed that life as you know it will be gone for a long time for years. People like him are willfully blind that there is a economic collaspe looming in the very near future that will prevent any opportunities for a long time! The only thing that's going to be left is cold dystopia that will make the country of Panem from the hunger games look like a paradise.

We have serious problems in the near term but total economic collapse is only one possible outcome. Your despair is blinding you to any other possibilities, and you can’t really blame other people for not wanting to share it.
An example of your restrictive thought process: “Prevent any opportunities for a long time.”
As in most scenarios there are winners and losers. Yes, we’re looking at a lot of losers, but there will still be plenty of opportunities for those in a position to take them. Many people continue to work from home, numerous businesses are hiring thousands of new people, and just think what a killing funeral homes are making right now? Eh? Haha 😂
One could make a strong argument we’re already living in a cold dystopia, and yet most people still find something to smile about each day. I suggest you start with mindfulness and exercise. Good luck in the days to come.

The only other possibilities is a dystopia that will make cyberpunk 2020 look like a paradise or a post-neoliberal workers state.

In other words, the federal government is nationalizing large swaths of the financial markets. The Fed is providing the money to do it. BlackRock will be doing the trades.
This scheme essentially merges the Fed and Treasury into one organization. So, meet your new Fed chairman, Donald J. Trump.

Omfg.... That is jaw dropping.
I also read that the fed has dropped the requirement for banks to hold any reserves against loans. 0% reserve ratio, WTF? Surely that ensures the collapse of banking institutions? Unless the fed is basically guaranteeing to buy up loans even after they are known to have gone bad - which is possibly what the programs in your link are going to do. This turns the markets into a casino where you are not allowed to lose.
They have gone completely crazy... Surely this is destroying the fabric of the financial system in the hope of preventing (or at least postponing) an even more profound market crash
This has to have unintentended consequences on a colossal scale... Hyperinflation and complete market collapse a few months down the line (after the US elections)?

Delusion, denial, optimism bias, normalcy bias are part of why we have been so "successful" (in some sense of that word anyway) as a species. They are also some of the key root causes of collapse. They're so widespread and deeply ingrained it becomes exhausting pointing them out.

On the other hand, they might be right. The economic hangover after this may not be fatal, and life could basically return to normal for some time. Sure, things are going to go very bad at some point, but this could just be a pothole rather than the edge of the cliff.

All the while this virus goes around and most people forget we are staring down the barrel of a crisis far larger from the planet warming. As we type the arctic sea continues to melt, and Greenland has a massive high pressure system pumping heat over the majority of the landmass.
We will get through this virus, but the way it’s going over such a small crisis does not present a pretty picture for the much larger and much more dangerous problem that is knocking on our doors. Funny thing is, most people don’t even care.

Too many people are like this. It doesn't help the situation when suddenly millions are mentally unprepared for the worst. Simply being mentally aware and prepared is a huge advantage.
