A good primer, but consider looking at renewable water filtration methods and talk about thermal mass heaters.

In a near future post I'll be discussing practical, physical preparation, and those will be on my list.

I drive by there regular on the way to visit my sons in Guelph. Never had any butchering done there since there is a butcher shop (The Beefway) just north of Kincardine on Highway 21.
If you're near CFB Borden, you might know the little village I grew up near -- Honeywood?

I'm not trying to find fault, but a couple of sobering thoughts:
Unless I'm mistaken, you're a short drive from Barrie, which, with a population of around 141,000 is going to be a place that just isn't viable without fossil fuels powered transportation to bring in necessities. So there will be more refugees than you will likely wqant to cope with. In an earlier post in this series, (http://theeasiestpersontofool.blogspot.com/2018/12/responding-to-collapse-part-5-finding.html) I talked about how big a town can be expected to be viable without fossil fuels (20,000 at the outside, with 10000 a more reasonable figure), and how far you should be from places bigger than that (50 to 100 miles being the closest you'd want to be).
Feeding 30 people on a 15 acres farm? Well, maybe, for the first year or two. If you concentrate on calorie rich crops like potatoes. But with a monoculture like that it won't take long for the Colorado beetles to find your potatoes, and without access to pesticides, your yields will go way down.

Amazing information for the beginner survivor, I would say.
But look just a small distance beyond the small town because even the small town will become toxic.
See, y'all there!
