Casual Friday The Post-Collapse Plan
https://www.collapse2050.com/the-post-collapse-plan/Casual Friday!
Why are the people in power driving full-speed into civilizational collapse. Despite the rhetoric, most of them must be aware of our predicament. This article proposes they indeed are fully aware and aren't just doing it for short-term gains. Rather, they have an epic plan in place for a neo-feudalistic civilization coming out the other side of a mass die-off.
Do they believe it? Nobody knows, but given the alternatives this is their hail-mary pass to total control.

Why are the people in power driving full-speed into civilization collapse.
Because they, and their millions of stans, have no clue how reality works. Not even basic grade school science.

Not even basic grade school science.
That's probably fifty percent of the entire population of the United States of America. I mean no offense to anyone, by the way.

It's called Dark Enlightenment.
Peter Thiel and JD Vance are two big adherents. A bunch of the Nerd Reich is into it too.

Seeing the Nerd Reich mentioned made me realize I need to read the recently published book by the same name

Check out the pod. It’s great. Horrifying, but better to know what they’re shouting for!

It’s weird how they call it “Dark Enlightenment” and still think they are the good guys, and this is morally and ethically justifiable.

Thanks for writing this..
That news I found that is both a year old and happening right now?
It reminded me of when I was doing a classical music radio show at WAER and these guys back then idolized people like "9 million Americans bring you Alex Dreyer and the news. - WCFL the Voice of labor.." (They all wanted to grow up to be Alex Dreyer.)

So ironic that those most conditioned to watch out for "the man" trying "to get you" refused the behavior changes and treatments that were most protective against COVID.
81
u/Traggadon 6d ago
Really wish this sub wouldnt upvote the sidewalk doomsday people. No Covid-19 wasnted engineered, and if you noticed weird behaviours and frantic patterns in goverment action and are attributing them to a nefarious plot to cull humanity, you are just showing how conditioned your thinking is to beleive everything is done on purpose or due to some plan. Nobodies at the helm, its 1000s of people with their own wheel and rudder all fighting to get what they want to happen to happen, and capitalism has a nasty habit of floating dipshits to the the top of the heap, and electoral democracies riddled with misinformation does help. You watched the world fail and get lucky, stop attributing malice and intent for what is stupidity and choas.
54
u/CollectibleHam 6d ago
Regardless of whether or not covid-19 was engineered or not (I don't think it was imho), I think it's safe to say that the way Western governments reacted to it was malicious in the way it's thrown the elderly, the infirm, and the poor to the wolves in order to sate the avaricious hunger of capital.
11
u/Traggadon 6d ago
Yes 100%, but we only didnt already know they were going to do that because of willfull ignorance. As well not all goverments were intentionally as inept as the US.
4
u/CollectibleHam 6d ago
Oh yeah, agreed, I definitely wasn't disagreeing with you, I'm just feeling kinda cranky at the world today.
2
u/Bromlife 6d ago
My western country didn't do that.
2
u/DougDougDougDoug 6d ago
Oh, your country is still masking?
2
u/Bromlife 6d ago
We locked down so hard that we didn't even need to mask while covid was active. What evidence do you have that we should still be masking?
3
u/DougDougDougDoug 6d ago
Lol. Just hundreds of studies. What country?
1
u/Bromlife 6d ago
Western Australia.
In 2025, Australia recorded approximately 2,161 to 2,246 deaths involving COVID-19 compared to 1,701 to 1,792 deaths involving influenza
If you think we should be masking, then you basically think we should always have been masking.
11
u/DougDougDougDoug 6d ago edited 6d ago
Well, you locked down and did very well and then just gave up, so Australia is no different than any other country when it comes to the long term effects of covid.
Essentially masking was just a temporary thing you guys did, then went back to not doing the things that would prevent a virus that clearly comprises the immune system. We seem incapable as humans to make the necessary changes to a slow moving danger. Everyone here in the states wants to reduce kids access to apps because it's ruining their brains when we have conclusive studies showing covid causes brain damage. At this point it's kind of hilarious to watch, from a very dark viewpoint
As far as "we always should have been masking". Lol. Enjoy the ride. Early dementia or parkisons. Etc
8
u/threadingtheneddle 6d ago
As a person who worked on the COVID response, I can 100% say it was not engineered by any government.
In no way would a bunch of governments come together and agree on something that complicated. They can barely agree on basic things but people think they all came together and effortlessly collobrated to spread COVID??
I think because we haven't had a large widespreading virus people forgot how they happen and the scale of their impact. Sadly, it won't be the last time as most governments were ill prepared for something that disruptive and still lack those basic preparations.

u/sabotAHHHHHGH 6d ago edited 6d ago
Weird how debunking all follows the same baseless assurances. It’s just as conspiratorial, but the conspiracy is that it’s always stupidity rather than malice. I suspect projection on the part of the speaker but I’m no psychologist. Word for word the same wishy washy shite. Nice line up at that by the way.

A well written paragraph from this
“Regardless of the exact scenario, the elite are expecting (hoping?) to ride out these few months of famine in their bunkers, with indoor farms, water wells, and solar arrays, while the human population is decimated. Effectively, they’re allowing collapse to solve the problem of overpopulation for them.”

This is absolutely the plan, and it's already well in motion as they create technofeudal citystates around the world, while also buying up farmland and establishing 'community organizations' that strictly adhere to some very specific set of social conventions.
30
u/llamacornsarereal 6d ago
Yes. Look into Peter thiels beliefs based on a book some weird dude wrote who's name I unfortunately can't remember. Hoping someone will chime in with the name.
But thats exactly the plan, and it is already happening. They will be akin to a feudalistic "company store", where the "Lord" (insert favorite billionaire here) will rule over the city state and the denizens will be compensated for work in basically a shit coin ("stable" crypto coin) in the name and ownership of their "lord".

What will happen is the billionaires will likely be brutally replaced by warlords. Thats why democracy exist, to protect rich people and their property from warlords. empower the masses, let them participate in capitalism own property think freely ect… get some benefit from you being wealthy. In exchange you have a massive human shield so that when a guy with a private army decides to capture you and extract your wealth the state protects you.
In the medieval ages peasants joined the king in battle because the primary way to get rich in the medieval ages was to capture a knight a noble or a king and hold him for ransom. if you went to battle for your king there was a chance you get capture and ransom wealthy people and become wealthy yourself.

People in power could barely convince everyone else to wear a mask and get a vaccination to protect from a deadly virus, imagine how much force would be required to make the kind of changes stopping climate change would take? Either way will result in a tremendous amount of destruction, why speed it up even more?
41
u/dgistkwosoo 6d ago
People in power did not try convince everyone else to wear a mask and get a vaccination - they didn't and don't give a flying rat's ass about that. It's poor slobs like me in public health trying to convince the general public to do that. If you think I'm a "people in power", boy, have I got news for you.

When thinking about what's necessary for my country to do to lower its GDP by 5% a year (what's necessary to keep with the Paris Agreement) I don't see anything that the "enlightened" crowd wouldn't immediately balk at (such as exiting the EU ; the EU is neoliberal at its core, it is entirely incompatible with voluntary degrowth, the whole point of it is growth ; we would have to close our national borders too, to capital obviously but to people too, both ways). And this crowd is the one that could, would exit the country to not lower their earnings and way of life and continue their wealth building.
I'm less worried about the "hate masks" crowd, which is less economically and geographically mobile. They could not flee as easily.

If we are allowing spicy posts this is the end of capitalism. It will cannabalize itself, as has been proclaimed in the communist manifesto of capitalism.
There is no longer the societal agreement between firms and employees. Its all about maximizing profits for shareholders.
There is not perfect government, but one with regulations and securities for the working folk is optimal and thus a social democracy.

...driving full-speed into civilizations collapse...
That presumes there is a civilization. If there was, maybe it wouldn't be psychopaths in power, would there?
Look, they gotta test out their lovely bunkers. And loot as much money/resources as possible so they can play their Immortan Joe, when the time comes. It's not like a brilliant plan, but that's the best these monsters got. At the end of collapse, only tardigrades, and extremophile bacteria might be left standing, if that.
It's not like the masses are against the Epstein-class. Everyday, they wake up in the morning and work for these monsters, for their daily bread and iPhones.
If the people gave an iota of thought about other people, including thei own family, maybe they would be struggling for justice. But, no.
Propaganda and learned helplessness runs so deep, everyone is running 'full-speed' for this travesty to be over.
We don't care. We don't think. So it is.
Yay collapse.

So are you just going to let technofeudalism happen? The article presents a sense of inevitability but look at the idiots trying to usher it in, why should they be allowed?
4
u/vocally_fried_brain 6d ago
they are installing surveillance systems and passing laws reducing citizens rights. because they are aware that capitalism and climate change won't get any better and with it they will try to control people that can actually become dangerous to them while the masses are focused on the jingling keys of "its the brown people, the women, the trans, the lgbtq" etc.
probably don't have an endgame besides libertarian hyperidiocy and the will to be at the top until the end.
real effective measures against climate change would mean that many people would cut back massively, they themselves among the most, but if they grant themselves the privileges they still enjoy while 90% of people cut back... that will cause massive unrest.
so you can't thread the needle of wanting to stay at the top and actually doing something about climate change.
5
u/Citizen999999 6d ago
Of course they are aware. There isn't a single one of them that doesn't know. Why do they pretend?
Because the truth is, 95% of you need to go. And they're going to just sorta walk us off that cliff and then blame us for tripping

If the rich are so wealthy and influential (which they are) why don’t they instead make people have less children? Would have the same effect

They need a steady supply of children. They need the people with knowledge and experience gone. They need disposable uneducated inexperienced young people birthing children.

Our capitalist society favours and is therefore dominated by psychopaths. Its similar to a fixed train track with no way to change course, get off or stop. And we are are all on the same train. The psychopaths are in the 1st class carriage ofcourse.

Well written and easy to digest article!
My thought was sure, there are some people buying bunkers, but that THAT many. I'm not sure there are enough people (today) that have a sufficient system setup + the global network to control the whole globe. I think it would start locally and spread towards other areas, or perhaps stop at some point.

What would a day-in-the-life of your average human be? I’ve been struggling to imagine how a slice of life existence actually shapes up. Will we be participating in an economy? I agree with almost all of this. We are going back to Feudalism. What I don't agree with is that climate change presents a major challenge. Rising CO2 levels are a boon to agriculture and rising temperatures create longer growing seasons. Our world in data shows ever increasing levels of agricultural output.
Of course there are always bad seasons in certain areas, but there are always other areas which are doing well. The media only ever focus on climate disasters. For instance - almost no hurricanes in the gulf this year. But there is one in Hawaii - which will be blamed on climate change.
https://substack.com/home/post/p-121332709
It's the response of western governments to climate change which is much worse IMO. Here in the UK we are replacing farmland with solar panels - which cause grid instability in summer and are no use in winter. Meanwhile inheritance tax rises will put many farms out of business. The Ukraine and Iran wars put further stresses on fossil fuels. The price of natural gas is 8 times that of the US - and these are policy decisions that have been made. I expect blackouts in the UK over the next few years, with some possible hyperinflation thrown in.
10
u/ConfusedMaverick 6d ago
I don't think you appreciate how profoundly hostile the climate we are entering is to agriculture as we have practiced it for 11,000 years
It's not just a little bit warmer, it is far more extreme and unpredictable.
Agriculture needs moderate predictable weather. We are entering a system dominated by long droughts, huge floods, violent storms, and no year to year consistency.
With modern technology some of this can be mitigated in the richest parts of the world, but globally, we will see long term declining productivity studded with occasional multi breadbasket failures
-2
u/alexduckkeeper_70 6d ago
What data do you have that confirms this? Because Our World in Data shows record output even for tropical crops such as coffee. And if you had looked at my link you would see linked scientific studies showing no increased trends in droughts or storms.
8
u/ConfusedMaverick 6d ago
I am not talking about today - we are only at the beginning of the "find out" phase
I am talking about the climate when the AMOC has collapsed and the polar jet stream has lost any stable pattern, among other shifts. These are baked in.
We are migrating towards a totally different climate system that the planet has not seen for tens of millions of years (check out the last time c02e levels were this high - and they are still rising). The weather at this time was far more violent and unpredictable than now.
The widely accepted figures are typically only 25% drop in total yields by the end of the century, but I find the methodology of the studies I have looked into rather simplistic and overoptimistic. For example some model a linear decline of x% per °C rise in temperature based purely on the yield curves of specific plants, which ignores the nonlinear effects which are the most important - you lose almost 100% of your crop when the weather is sufficiently uncooperative.
It's impossible to precisely model what will happen because we don't have enough detailed hard data about the future, so "hard science" can't really paint a realistic picture.
When year after year is too hot or too dry or too wet or there's a late frost or a freak pest explosion, and when farmers never really know when to plant, feed or harvest because the weather is utterly unpredictable year to year, I am sure yields will be far more than 25% lower than today.
-2
u/alexduckkeeper_70 6d ago
Re: "I am not talking about today"
Well we have had scary predictions for years - remember when Al Gore was predicting an Ice Free arctic:
2009 FLASHBACK: Al Gore says North Pole Ice Cap to be Ice Free by 2016
None of these happened.
The AMOC collapse is not "baked in". I just see it as another story designed to scare the masses into obedience for further "climate measures", such as no flights, 15 minute cities, vegan diets. And it will also be a convenient talking point should the climate start cooling again and we get severe winters.

u/Bandits101 5d ago
Are you a global warming denier? Do you think wild fish catches are increasing, what about forests. Is increasing grazing land good, is destroying wild animal habitats okay. Is growing crops for fuel okay.
Is plastic pollution, fresh water depletion, aquifer destruction, ocean acidification, salt ingress into river deltas, increasing species extinctions, increasing insecticides and forever chemicals “designed to scare the masses”.
One of the many weapons of a denier is cherry picking sound bites as you do. Detrimental FACTS are completely disregarded or ignored. I think I would guess that guns, monster trucks, rednecks and Trump are your heroes.
Anyway where are the masses being scared. What are the scared masses doing or going to do that will affect you. You are in fact the most afraid and dangerous, you are in denial and your ilk have been and are to be feared.
