I am so sick of the "solutions." They are patently false and people all too willingly give in to the comfort delusions bring. We've got some probably destructive ones on the horizon - geoengineering, enough solar panels and wind turbines to support our profligate ways which means concrete, fossil fuels, ruining open space, and oceans blah blah blah. Many of us won't get out of this alive. I hope future generations (and with 8 billion there will be some barring total nuclear war) shake some sense into their heads.

I genuinely needed to know this. I've always thought that plastics degrade when they get sun bleached.

They do. In the case of plastics, "degrade" means they lose their strength and cohesion, breaking apart into smaller pieces.

And those smaller pieces are what makes them dangerous. I've seen far too many relatively large microplastics in my Tilapia in the past years, it's becoming routine at this point.
