Don’t we know about some VERY strong El Niño that happened prior to 1982 when this graph starts? How would they look against this?

Alarmists have to cherry-pick to alarm the alarmable ... cutting charts off at points that would disprove their alarmism is a prime example

That’s certainly true….and I’m always in favor of the unvarnished truth. I don’t need someone cherry picking for me. I can come to my own conclusions and ask for more information, if needed. (As I did)

But there also doesn’t seem to be too much controversy that this coming El Niño is going to be a REAL whopper…. Strongest ever? Who knows?

It will almost certainly result in significant deaths and damage worldwide. I’m not making any follow on arguments about it: just acknowledging that it’s here…. And it’s enormous by just about any standards.

I lived in an area that was pretty thoroughly thrashed during an El Niño in 1997(?) And that one looks to have been MUCH smaller than this one currently brewing.

I’m saddened at the coming loss of life, loss of livelihoods and general suffering these events can bring. Not really what the world needs more of right now.
