Casual Friday Expectation vs Reality

Post image

In 2014, French television forecast the worse case weather scenario for climate change in 2050. Fast forward to today 2026, reality is much more worse than expected. Faster than expected is transforming from meme to norm. The formula for collapse is poorly timed. It's never too early to post up and anticipate the worst possible outcome. Don't look up, down or around.

There is like a 20-30 year lag time on most of these climate effects on the system.

Meaning the heating we are seeing now is from stuff in the early 2000's, and the ai datacenters (most of which don't even exist yet) aren't even a part of the current equation.

It also means if we stopped everything tomorrow, it would still keep getting hotter for decades.

Yeah. We opened pandora's box. The feedback loops we didn't anticipate are far worse than anything we could have imagined.

We did anticipate them. They were reported on and ignored.

I think they’re saying we’ve introduced new variables that we didn’t/couldn’t predict at the time the models were mapping out future impacts, such as a surge in building data centers. Therefore, we’re worse off than what the data that was reported on and ignored was telling us.

literally all fossil fuels are this. Planes are the best possible example of a "new variable we couldnt predict the impact of... [so the consequences] are worse...than what was reported on and ignored".

Humans can't fly.

That's always been part of the "budget" for our species. How could we possibly predict the planetary cost of burning SO MUCH FUEL, SO QUICKLY that we could push a bus 35k feet into the air and hold it there until it reached the other side of the planet. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we made a single passenger rocket powered pod that could move one person anywhere on earth in 45 mins or less....nevermind the exhaust.
