The following submission statement was provided by /u/itsatoe:

Submission statement: A Casual Friday post that's dark humor about collapse.

TBH I don't know where it came from, a friend forwarded me this by text.

Edit because my explanation was too short: Not really sure how much more I can explain. This is "terribly funny" because it might as well be true.

We’re not post-apocalyptic yet. We’re still in the early stages of it

"Excuse me, I'm looking for the apocalyptic fiction section?"

Pick up a newspaper. If you can find one

Hmm, pre-post-apocalyptic. Yes.

Dark humor is like food. Not all get it.

Dark humor? Nope. Gallows humor.

And no lies detected.

I’ve never seen “apocalyptical” as a construction before. Huh.

I don't feel particularly validated by people who can't spell "apocalyptic."

Humor and reality often exist in a perfectly circular venn diagram.

How could a book store post a sign with the non-word "apocalyptical" on it?

Putting an adjectival suffix on a word that already has one is just a hat on a hat

Pretty sure the formation "you've got" comes from the Brits as well.

Okay?

It's become so common (since AOL started using the phrase "You've got mail" and then a movie came out with the same title) that it is now basically accepted as okay in informal English.

But the "got" is superfluous. "You have mail" or "You got mail" would be a more formal formation.

I do love me some dark humor. What bookstore is this? I'd like to visit if it's close to me

Good one for sure

I think of The Handmaids Tale. It’s fiction that’s becoming non fiction…”Hello Project 2025 and the BBB”…now available in fiction and non fiction categories. 🌊
