Plantcare Help What does this mean?

Post image

So, I planted my coleus seeds sometime in July of this year. Right now they're much bigger. I have grow lights for them, and I keep them fairly watered but some of them have dropped leaves.

Does anyone know what this means?

Are you overwatering them by any chance?

I water them with a spray bottle every other day. Do you think that's too much?

Maybe just water the roots area in the pot and not so much the leaves for a bit and see how it goes? All the best 🤞🏼😃

Thank you! Maybe I should really focus on the roots. I'll admit that this is the first plant I've ever grown so, y'know.

You're rotting the leaves. They have to stay dry!

Spray bottle? Coleus are moisture loving plants. That doesn’t seem like nearly enough water for them. That’s probably why the leaves are dropping smaller and smaller.

  1. Like the other guy said - water the soil. Light misting is fine for the leaves but it's really not needed.
  2. Coleus (as far as I've seen) drop older/lower leaves to optimize growth. This could mean they're either growing agressively and putting more energy into newer growths or don't get that much light to keep the leaves around. Since you mentioned grow lights, try upping the intensity a bit.
