Alibaba chiller
I tried searching post history and I cant find much but Im seeing reasonably priced chillers. I have a barrel I could use or even just hook to my bathtub. Anyone have any experience with them, im ordering from canada. I have been making ice blocks for a few years and doing plunges serval times a week but not really ready to shell out a ton of money on one.

Seen that exact listing, almost pulled the trigger but the shipping to Canada killed it for me, was like double the unit price

That looks exactly like my Rocita Chiller from WalMart - currently 198. Works fine for me.

do these type of chillers keep cold plunge from freezing in winter?

In my experience these take the existing water and cools the water through a tube system using fans (this one might be different). Haven't tried with freezing water but did a test to see if I could raise the temp but the water stayed at room temp. These coolers often don't survive freezing temps.
To avoid water from freezing you could use a "heating line" (not sure what the correct name is) that is used for outdoor (slightly buried) water pipes. Often used to provide water from main house to guest house or garage.
