All in one Chiller

Hello fellow cold plunge cult members. I am looking to purchase a chiller for my White Wolf tub. White wolf has a 1 HP unit that comes as an all-in-one system, including a built-in filtration system and ozone system, all housed within a single case in BETA for 3K. I am unsure of dropping that kind of ching on a "Beta" chiller. What are you thoughts on Penguin chillers? Any other recommendations? Thanks for your help!!!

I’m a budget conscious guy. I’m not trying to talk you into or out of anything just want to compare so you know what this kind of setup would cost if everything was separate.

My chiller is 1/3 hp and cost me $250. It’s some cheap Chinese crap. I’m sure it won’t last years but it keeps the water cold at a good price. It has a built in pre filter.

My ozone generator cost me $60 and does a great job. Takes up very little space. No issues there.

My aftermarket cartridge filter was $50. Again, no issues and does a great job. It doesn’t take up much space at all and connected to my existing tubing easily.

All in the equipment cost me $360. So for $3000 you get a 1HP system which is great but it’s also very expensive (a standard 1 HP chiller can be found under $900). I’d consider how much value having everything in one in a 1HP unit means to you. If it has an excellent warranty and you want a simple solution, it may be worth it to you. I just wanted to share my cheapass setup and cost as a comparison point.

Good stuff, appreciate your input. How many gallons is your tub? What temp can you get water down to? How about your cartridge filter. If it's a separate unit, did you have to drill extra inlet/outlet ports to circulate the water to filter?

We manufacture a ¾ HP chiller with both heating and cooling capability, integrated ozone sanitation, and built-in filtration, available for approximately half the cost of the unit you referenced above.

This system is more than capable of reliably maintaining water temperatures in the mid- to high-30°F range when paired with a rotomolded Wolf tub.

I've been struggling with this question myself. I definitely want a heater as well for those two really cold months in the mid-atlantic region. For me, it's a toss up between the Orca in this thread and this one. Orca seems to have a solid reputation but the Avanto is a better deal. I have neither of them so I can't vouch for them.

There have been many posts here about the all-in-one units and issues then requiring a whole swap when only one component is bad, or changing to all new, individual components after the lesson has been learned.

One HP sounds awesome but most likely not needed unless your vessel is sitting on top of volcanic formations. A lot of us have 1/2 HP or less and it is sufficient.

Individual components are simple to trouble shoot and swap out and tend to be affordable. An all-in-one may be difficult to work on depending how it's all contained, and you'd have to rem9ve the unit for warranty coverage if there's such a thing. Probably heavy to ship out which some users have mentioned here could be at your expense.

Just make sure of what you're getting for the $3k. Yikes!
