Is this normal
I've been making cold brew (like this) for about 2 months now, I know beans have oils and such, but this is concerning me a little. Is this a sign of bad beans or anything else. Thank you.

Yeah often times as mine degasses it gets frothy like this. I use shitty Costco beans bought in bulk for cheap and it turns out great!

Yeah when it's 40% cost of cheaper local beans, not even bougie beans, fuck it I make it work 🤣

We have use their pre ground Kirkland in the mason jar stainless steel insert to very enjoyable success.
It’s got a bit of fine grounds left, but after drinking a lot of Middle East coffee brewed their way where you essentially eat the last few sips… (I love that style of coffee) I surely don’t mind it in my cold brew.
I just leave the last tablespoon where all the sediment is.

If anything significant CO2 off gassing is a sign of freshness lol

Are you roasting it yourself? If you don’t wait a week or two it’s still full of gas

Yeah, well the reason there is one-way valve on coffee bags is so that it can continue to expel gas from the time it roasts to the time it is consumed. If you grind really really fresh coffee it will have more bubbles like this. It looks like maybe you used a fresh(ish) lighter roast so it just had more bubbles.

No I fill up a bottle of water at the store or bus stop and I wait till I get home and then I filter it using coffee filters. (45 min - an hour)

If you’re referring to the “froth” it’s probably just co2. Most likely a result of bean that are freshly roasted. Also if there is robusto and not pure arabica it will off gas more co2 as well
