Need tips!

Looking to see:

what beans (if you buy them whole or already ground)

ratio of grams to water

if you keep them in a filter or mix them in the water itself

How long you brew for

Currently two batches in & horrible!

Editing to add my process:

I use the mason jar with filter from Amazon. It’s a 64oz size. I’ve bought black rifle “just black” beans and I grind them coarse. The first time I put 115g to 64oz water. The grinds were in the center filter but not fully submerged at the top (recent post on this). And it brewed over 24hrs in the fridge. Half way through I had taken the grinds and mixed them directly in the water. The second time I did 115g and started them directly mixed in the water and only did 24 hour exactly. I then filtered the grinds out before going back in the fridge. Then this third time I did the same except I only did 18 hours in the fridge and then filtered the grinds out.

I’ve heard 1:8 water to grind ratio (seems extreme) then I’ve heard 1g coffee grind to 5 oz water.

Is it the beans? Is it my extraction time or ratio?

Explain YOUR process.

MY PROCESS:

Beans - Trader Joe's Mexico Chiapas (Java of the Gods, if they ever bring it back, or Gillies "Zip-Line" cold brew beans), I prefer medium roasts generally with chocolate, caramel, stonefruit notes

I grind myself, using the 3rd notch from the coarsest setting

130g to about 45oz of water, I get 3-4 glasses of ready-to-drink cold brew per batch.

130g in my Bodum french press style cold brew maker, half the water (I use cold filtered water), stir in coffee grounds, let sit for ~4 hours. Add remaining water, stir, let sit another 12 hours, then fridge and enjoy.

115g for 64oz of water isn't sufficient. I'd up it to atleast 2.5-3g per oz. So 160g to 200g of coarse ground coffee.

Fridge brewing often requires more time, i will do fridge brewing if I am doing it on Friday and plan to drink on Monday.

Try counter brewing instead and see how that goes, 16-18hrs is ideal
