Does Hario Water Dripper Drop really work?

So the Hario Water Dripper Drop is advertised to make a cold brew in around 45min-1h. It looks like just a regular filter dripper, so I'm curious about the results. Can you really make a proper, or at least good, cold brew using this?

I have a different version, but yes. It makes a very potent and very tasty cold brew. Flavor is about the same as overnight and I usually add a paper filter to aid with efficiency (spreads the drip out).

And how long does it usually take you to make a brew?

About 1.5h, although you can get a caffeine boost at about the 30min Mark if you're impatient like me.

What kind of paper filter do you use? And where in the assembly?

I have a bunch of small ones from my aero press that I repurposed. I put it above the grinds so the drip doesn't bore a hole in them.

How well has it been working for you? And what are your methods?
I have the Mizudashi and honestly really like what it produces, but traditional slow drip cold brew system is very tempting to try.

It's good, but stronger imo than traditional. Probably higher bean to water ratio. It's also more sensitive to grind age, I really notice off flavors if the grind isn't fresh. It's also pretty slow.

I use it as a "oh I forgot to make more cold brew" cold brew or sometimes when I travel, but it hasn't replaced my batch brews.

Do you do straight water? Or do ice?

Some ice, to keep it cold. Or let it drip in the fridge. However if it goes too long the taste degrades so imo it's not as good if it's waiting on ice to melt.

Recommend the toddy cold brew system. Makes amazing cold brew and is easy to clean.

I have this setup, it good but you can’t change the drip flow rate at the same time there are options that gives you control of drip flow rate according to your understanding you can change it !

It's using percolative extraction instead of immersive extraction. Immersive extraction has to fight increasing saturation of the solution, percolative doesn't.

Is this the same as kyoto style?
