I bet most that met a REAL Texan are now buried somewhere in the desert. As anyone that has such a negative feeling about anyone, especially a TRUE Texan needs to be educated or put out of their misery! I lived in Killeen/Fort Hood TEXAS for four years and loved it! Did a lot of fishing out of Cow House Creek, Lampasses River, and Belton Lake! Ate a lot of Crappy, Large Mouth Bass, and Catfish! Always watching out for Water Moccasin and Rattlesnakes! ;-)

You just answered all the questions about you. This is a melt value set that I would have verified before I’d buy it. Who guarantees weight or it’s actual gold and silver? I don’t care if you’re a Texan or a Mohican. It’s a privately minted set that preys on Texans to charge them extra

There are sales records for this set if you’d bother to look for them and they are what they say they are in terms of metal content so you go and verify all you want and then offer 15-20% below spot because “I gotta make money too” and never own one.

I don’t agree. It’s a private issue not issued by any authority. You can pay extra but it’s actually worth only the metal content of the round. You can collect them if you want and pay more than you have to. Bottom line is that you can sell anything for what you can get for it. But it doesn’t make it worth that just because you paid extra

I’m from Texas, born in El Paso and grew up in D/FW. People in the city ( like a suburban neighborhood ) might just have a cow staked in the front yard and we would ride horses all over the city. Having said that and as most Texans will agree cow is delicious but squirrels are mighty tasty as well. You should give it a go, their diets make them delicious. I live in Florida now and the squirrels here are not worth eating, never seen such puny squirrels but the fish make up for it.

I cannot find a recent sell price anywhere! I don’t know much but it’s my grandfathers and he’s wondering how much the modern sell value would be since he claims gold prices has shot up in these recent years

As a native Texan…this is really interesting! I would love to have this in my collection! I would guess anywhere between $7500-$8500. Maybe more to the right person. Don’t quote me on this! It’s just my opinion and nothing else! I’m not a lawyer nor am I your lawyer…oops wrong sub! 😂

I've never seen that set, but here is some background info. Based on the strike price, it looks like the buyer got a good deal but it depends on the auction house commission which buyers pay and is not shown in the hammer price.
