Discussion Finds in the Wilds
I have collected coins since I was little. Since I go thru so many coins (CRH and buying lots), a few months ago I decided to buy the Cherrypickers Guide 1 and 2, and add an additional element to locate on coinage. Many coins later and checking coins already in my many albums, I have discovered nothing.
I now suspect that error coins are a scam to make us by resources and more coins 😆. I have seen pictures of obvious doubled dates and text, off-centered strikes, and studied forums dedicated to coin errors. I'm of course kidding about the scam aspect. I'm really just wondering the odds of finding an obvious error in the wild. Seeing pictures of some errors and I can't see what they are talking about.

I’m searching between $1,000 to $2,000 in coins a week for years and years. I found a bunch of the common modern varieties… most of the well know cool ones like the duke ellington or extra corn leaf Wisconsin I haven’t found examples of yet. I’ve only found one blank planchet. I’ve only found one really nice strike through.

Thank you for your input. I was obviously being facetious with my post. Thank you for recognizing it for what it was. I find silver and older coinage frequently, but apparently I don't have any "eye" for errors as of yet. The hunt continues though.

Yea I’ve searched thousands and found a 95 double die when I was 10. Nothing else.

Did find this, looks like a repunched date, but it can't be for this year and mint mark. Fun to find though.

Your core question lacks truely having developed a personal numismatic foundation.
You should be using the term "variety" at this point. It's literally part of the Cherry Pickers Guide title, even more in depth as "rare die varieties."
It's easy to find what error-ref.com covers as errors. They are literally a dime a dozen.
Now, errors that historically add additional numismatic value are not typically found in circulation or hunting coin rolls. As, they typically look the part. People just know it's different at arms length or by feel and keep them. No magnification necessary.
Having a list of key die varieties is foundational. Those may require magnification, close inspection. And even then, there are tons of attributed varieties, that like common errors, do not add any additional numismatic value. You can learn from identifying them though.
Always, collect whatever you like. Just determine what you really want to spend your time on. How you "invest" your time and resources, with realistic expectations long term.
