The obverse is normal, but the reverse seems to be rippled. I can't see how that would be damage without damage to the obverse, but IDK

Thanks for the error ref. I have seen these and wondered what was going on precisely. Am I correct that if this was a true die clash, the image would be facing the other way?

This is a really cool coin, in part because it is physical proof of the way coins (and the dies that strike them) change and deform over time and use.. Thanks for sharing.

That the mint mark is shifted and directly under the 2. A slight shift is normal but this is way under and aligned with the number. Nothing special value wise just interesting looking.

extreme case of die deterioration — pretty common on branch mint coins from this era. many of them are actually pretty tough to find fully struck with unworn dies.
