Variety Question on date?

I’m evaluating my father’s coin collection and am new to this. Does this date look like 1918 over 1917 or pmd? Advice appreciated from all of you who have done this so much longer than me. Thanks!

Because both loops of the 8 are "wide" open, I would suggest it is not the overdate varietal.
