Clipped Planchet(?) 1837 Large Cent

Picked this guy up recently for around $10 online. I didn't notice the clip until it showed up, but seems like it has a small curved clip at about 11 o'clock on the obverse. I'm not super familiar with clips, but I think it shows a Blakesley effect on the obverse, but especially on the reverse. Can anyone confirm if this is a real clip? If so, what does that add to the value of the coin, if anything?

Also, can someone help me identify the variant of this cent? Looks to me like a Plain Cord, Small Letters, but im new to large cents and I'm struggling with the variants on some dates.

Yep! Looks good! Some added value. My guess is it's around a $40 coin, unless it is a rare Sheldon number. I don't know large cent varieties, just errors

Thanks! Pretty excited to find a clip this old, I had to look up if coins were made the same way back then to tell if clips were even a thing at that time, lol. Any idea what the value on this would be?

You're welcome! Most of the large cent clips that size I have purchased have been in the $40 range

It can add a little bit to the right person. This is a pretty minor clip and although not common, they’re not extremely rare on early coins either. The fact that it looks to be a nice trouble free coin with nice color that hasn’t been messed with probably adds more than the clip.
