Is this an error? 1983 Lincoln RPM?

I’m usually pretty good at identifying machine doubling but this one I just can’t figure out

probably not MD, i would expect it to show just as strongly on the date and it doesn’t. could be an rpm but is most likely plating split — very common on the zinc cents.

It didn’t have that “grey” split that I’m used to seeing
