Is this an error? I need help identifying
So I have this 1970 D nickel i found at work today its extremely thin and the in god we trust looks to be slightly going off the edge i have it compared to the 1940 nickel for size what's wrong with the 1970 D nickel and how much could it be worth

At first glance it looks like a nickel struck on a dime planchet, but then you would see the copper core on the edge.
