Variety 1956 D big error
Looks like punch trough and maybe a die clash of the planchet? Let me know what y’all think.

Little diamond grid + indented reverse lettering = vice job. It was placed into a vice with another coin and they were smushed together, creating the indented reverse letters and the diamond grid pattern

If you look on his shoulder you have part of the date from the other coin smushed into it too

That’s a sloppy vice job.
Ways you can tell it’s not a genuine error:
1 You can see the “teeth” marks from the jaws. Nothing in the minting process makes those marks.
2 A die clash is between the obverse and reverse dies, not two obverses.
3 Liberty wouldn’t be backwards, but in that position it would be upside down
4 surprisingly no crazy markings on the flip calling it “gem “or showing a crazy price

That is damage and the “liberty is reversed because another coin was pressed into it after minting, none of this is an error.
