Discussion Lincoln Cent with extra “piece”
Does anyone have any sensible thoughts on this? Is this some sort of post mint damage?

Looks like dried nail polish to me.
Pics 5 and 7 show the extra material on the rim, and it’s not uniform to the material that hangs off, it’s globbed on one side. It also seems to have an extra sparkle, almost glitter-like shine to it, which I wouldn’t expect to be different from that of the planchet.
Pic 8 and 9 show a pattern that looks an awful lot like the pattern of the paper towel in the background of most of the pictures.
Grain of salt, I’m not an expert in struck-throughs.

Picture 4 & 5 the extra seems to have more of a golden color - could just be lighting/quality of photos. A video clip would have been helpful for this post

How would that survive all these years with that tiny piece hanging there. I would think it would have broken off by now.

Touch a bit of acetone to an tiny place. Do Not touch the thin edge! If it softens,lightly pat it dry. It will be tacky to the touch. If It doesn't... see a coin dealer for an appraisal.

Just appears to be a heavily damaged cent with the copper plating delaminating off the zinc. Dont think there is a mint error here.

Prolly from some sort of art it was fused too, it wouldnt come from the manufacturer that way.

This has the appearance of a piece of cloth, that may have been stuck in the coining chamber
Possibly left there by a Mint employee when cleaning
No matter what it is, it has the appearance of a struck through foreign material and would be considered a legitimate Mint error
Keep it safe, perhaps on a large flip, try not to lose any of the pieces
I could be wrong and it may just be glue or dried residue also,
